Renowned hotelier Mr. John Q. Hammons today announced the opening of his seven-story, 257-suite Embassy Suites® Omaha/La Vista – Hotel & Conference Center (www.embassysuitesomahalavista.com) in La Vista, Neb. The all-suite hotel and adjacent conference center, representing 100,000 gross square feet of meeting space, is owned by Mr. Hammons and is managed by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, the nation’s leading independent builder, developer, owner and manager of upscale, full-service hotels, resorts and suites (www.jqhhotels.com). The opening marks Mr. Hammons’ 203rd hotel in his 50 years in the hospitality industry and his third in Nebraska, including the 249-suite Embassy Suites Omaha Downtown/Old Market and 252-suite Embassy Suites Lincoln at the University of Nebraska.
To culminate hotel staff’s hard work and their surpassing pre-opening sales goals, opening day included the entire team’s dining at the hotel’s upscale, European-cuisine restaurant, the nines, overseen by award-winning German Master Chef Martin H. Reimund. John Burkey of Envoy Advertising received a warm welcome as the hotel’s first guest. A festive ribboncutting ceremony is scheduled for July 7, with Mr. Hammons in attendance.
With convenient access to I-80, the Embassy Suites Omaha/La Vista – Hotel & Conference Center is located in the heart of Sarpy County’s new 250-acre Southport shopping, business and entertainment development and is adjacent to Cabela’s Retail Superstore. The complex is 20 minutes from Omaha’s Eppley Airport, 40 minutes from Lincoln, and a short drive to Offutt Air Force Base, as well as to Creighton University and the University of Nebraska at Omaha, comprising a combined student population of nearly 20,000. La Vista has become one of the fastest growing cities in Nebraska, attracting large companies such as PayPal, HP Computers, Streck Laboratories, and Oriental Trading Company, according to the city of La Vista Web site.
The development complex also includes Mr. Hammons’ 246-room/suite Courtyard by Marriott under construction. To be connected by a glass, climate-controlled walkway to the new La Vista Conference Center, the Courtyard is slated to open in spring of 2009.
“The winning combination of a high quality facility, La Vista’s ideal location, and the commitment of the Mayor and City Council to pursue future partnership with its corporate citizens will expedite the generation of meeting business,” said Mr. Hammons, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts. “The $4 million already booked in meetings and hotel room reservations revenue is an excellent indicator of the area’s potential.”
The Embassy Suites Omaha/La Vista – Hotel & Conference Center are connected by an elegant staircase divided by an attractive waterfall feature. Together the facilities provide more than 100,000 gross square feet of flexible meeting space, including a grand ballroom that can host a banquet for up to 2,000 people. The hotel is decorated in a fresh, contemporary style of comfortable, casual elegance and features rich granite finishes and interesting fabrics in inviting hues of green, orange, red and gold. Guests can enjoy European cuisine at the hotel’s the nines restaurant or cocktails in the relaxing atrium lounge, while Caffeina’s, the marketplace café, brews Starbucks coffee and has wireless Internet access.
“The City Council and I couldn’t be more excited about the opening of the Embassy Suites and La Vista Conference Center. To have Mr. Hammons, one of the premier hotel developers in the country, build one of his top-notch, state-of-the-art hotel and conference center projects in La Vista is a dream come true. Working in partnership with Mr. Hammons is sure to result in great things for the city of La Vista for many years to come,” said Mayor Douglas Kindig, city of La Vista.
