Swissôtel Grand Shanghai named "China's Leading New Hotel" at World Travel Awards

Swiss Hospitality Rewarded with Top Accolade

Swissôtel Grand Shanghai, which opened in spring this year, has already received recognition for its outstanding property by being voted “China’s Leading New Hotel” and “Asia’s Leading City Hotel” at the 15th World Travel Awards regarded as the world's most prestigious travel awards event on 19th June.

The awards cover all areas of the travel industry and voting is cast by travel agents from over 190 countries around the world. According to acclaimed newspaper, Wall Street Journal, The World Travel Awards is “the Oscars of the travel industry."

“Receiving this award is such a tremendous honor as it recognizes the efforts of our hard working personnel who each played a role in the hotel’s opening,” says Mr. Ian L. Jones, General Manager of Swissôtel Grand Shanghai. “Further, it underscores our belief that Swissôtel came into Shanghai’s travel industry at the right time, and that our brand’s focus on classic Swiss hospitality has a well deserved place in this highly competitive market.”

The Swissôtel brand has 27 properties around the world, mostly in Europe, but with plans to expand in all parts of the world, some already under construction. In China, three properties, namely Foshan, Kunshan and Shanghai, have opened in the last six months, attesting to the group’s commitment of delivering the mainland’s domestic and international travelers fine Swiss hospitality.
