Luxury Island Retreat Ready to Welcome It’s First Guests to an Unforgettable Experience

Just off the coast of Cancun, across the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, UNIK Resorts announces it will open its flagship hotel on December 01, 2007 on Isla Mujeres. Perched on a privileged outcrop above the Caribbean Sea, UNIK is an architectural marvel that blends seamlessly with its exquisite surroundings, a tapestry of azure, bright white and emerald green.

Operated by the de la Peña family—long-time hoteliers in the Riviera Maya—UNIK opens the door to a level of service and accommodations that had yet to be reached in Isla Mujeres. “We’re raising the bar as far as hotels on this beautiful island are concerned,” says Patricia de la Peña, Vice President of the group. “With UNIK, we’re looking to tempt the discerning traveler who has stayed at upscale hotels around the world—we want them to find in Isla Mujeres the same impeccable service and exquisite surroundings that they have grown accustomed to during their travels around the world.”

A total of 89 rooms and suites, sleek and modern, await with exquisite views and every amenity, including flat screen televisions, CD/DVD players, MP3 player hook-ups, high-speed wireless Internet, luxurious 400 count bed linens, laptop-sized safes, fully stocked mini-bars and much more. Every room, regardless of category, gets twice-daily maid service, lavish bath amenities and candles, plush bathrobes and slippers, aromatherapy at turndown and an array of other services that keep UNIK’s accommodations several steps above the others.

The UNIK experience extends from the lavish surroundings to the personalized service and the gourmet dining, characterized by the creative talents of the Executive Chef and the resident Sommelier. There are three dining plans to choose from, ranging from the European Plan, the Gourmet Tasting Experience (offering a dazzling array of breakfast choices and lunch or dinner with a bottle of wine) and the complete Grand Gourmet Experience, which offers guests a choice of anything and everything, from morning till night, including 24-hour room service.

Six restaurants and bars bring Mexican, Asian, and Continental cuisine to life: The View, a contemporary dining experience; Breeze, just steps from the pool with a casual setting open for lunch and dinner; Pearl, for an unforgettable dinner; La Isla Grill & Lounge, living up to its name for lunchtime by the pool; the Turquoise Lounge, the setting for High Tea in the afternoon and cigars and drinks in the evenings; and the Aqua Pool Bar, for swim up libations.

Beyond the walls, the natural beauty of Isla Mujeres serves as a backdrop for the elegant pool area, built on four different levels following the lay of the land. Each pool offers guests a different experience, and each flows into the next in a soothing cascade of blue water. Below the hotel, a private strip of white-sand beach awaits sun worshipers. After a day of fun in the sun, therapists at the Ixchel Spa soothe tired muscles and rejuvenate spirits with a mixture of Mayan treatments and modern techniques.

Meetings and groups are welcome to the state-of-the-art facilities, which can accommodate up to 210 attendees. Business services are available, as are full-service wedding planners for that special occasion, made even more so by the attentive service and the beautiful surroundings.

The resort is accessible via the Isla Mujeres Regional Airport or via private boat service that departs UNIK’s Dockside Registration/Reception area on the mainland near Cancun.

From the moment you enter the realm of the UNIK, you are whisked away from the cares of the world into your own private paradise. If it’s all about the details, this is where “it” is.
