JIA, Hong Kong's first chic "boutique hotel" and the first hotel by French design guru Philippe Starck in Asia, is targeting a hip crowd who will wish to make it their "home from home" in Hong Kong.
JIA, the Mandarin word for "home", is located in the buzzing Causeway Bay shopping and entertainment district and features 54 chic studios and suites, including two Penthouses with an ultra stylish but relaxed flavour. Created within an existing 15-year-old residential building, the interior space at JIA has been transformed by Starck to showcase his celebrated sleek, modern designs and handpicked chic furnishings and fittings. The interior focuses on spatial clarity, comfort and style, with ultra-modern amenities for fast-living professionals and the style-conscious traveller.
JIA's entrance and lobby are signature-Starck, featuring teak wood floors and white sheer curtain- covered walls in contrast to the plush satin lounge sofas, marble tables, eclectic chandeliers and African artifacts. The relaxing lobby is a focal meeting point for guests where each morning complimentary continental breakfast is served.
JIA offers three hotel accommodation categories: Studios (380 sq ft), One-bedroom Suites (780 sq ft) and two-bedroom duplex Penthouses (1,570 sq ft).
Within each accommodation, the space is clearly defined into living, dining and working areas, with the use of sheer curtains and separate Arabescato cor marble-finished kitchen and bathroom.
Top of the range audio-visual equipment, including a flat screen television that revolves 180 degrees, surround sound system and DVD/VCD home theatre unit, and free broadband connectivity are just some of the high-tech features. The hotel apartment kitchen is fully equipped with tableware and cookware and features quality cool refrigerator and Smeg microwave oven. The ultra-sleek bathroom features contemporary designer fixtures and luxury toiletries.
Additional stylish facilities at JIA include a 2nd floor sundeck and podium where guests can entertain or just enjoy the outdoors and a conference room equipped with flat-screen television, audio-visual support, telephone and wireless broadband connectivity.
Valet laundry and dry cleaning is just another one of JIA' s little comforts, in addition to which a complimentary "launderette" service for guests to do their own washing is offered, helping to create a more residential feel.
A contemporary Restaurant/Lounge featuring the provocative cuisine of award-winning Melbourne Chef, Teage Ezard and a more casual Asian Bistro & Bar serving ezard "Street food" and creative cocktails, opens in March 2005. (check out www.ezard.com.au for more information on his Australia freestyle cuisine).
Special access to KEE private members' club as well as access to the VIP section and 10% dining discounts at Dragon-I and great shopping discounts at selected stores allows guests at JIA to enjoy a privileged Hong Kong lifestyle during their stay. All guests can keep fit with complimentary use of the nearby California Fitness gym.
Cheerful and professional staff in Shanghai Tang-designed uniforms welcome guests upon arrival and look forward to making their stay at JIA a luxurious experience in modern comfort and design, whether it be for a night, a week or a year.
JIA is a joint venture between PC Asia and Yoo Design, a European design house co-founded by Philippe Starck and John Hitchcox committed to developing property with a pulse.
