Apsleys Redefines Fine Dining Bringing an Italian Flare to London’s Dining Scene
The Lanesborough, one of Europe’s finest and most acclaimed hotels, is proud to announce the opening of its new restaurant Apsleys. Apsleys will feature modern Italian cuisine created by celebrated chef Nick Bell. Bell’s most recent culinary experience was Head Chef of the famous and fashionable Cecconi’s restaurant in London. Prior to opening Apsleys, Nick traveled extensively in Italy to source the finest produce for his inspiring menu which features dishes from various regions in Italy.
“Since its opening in 1991, both our local and international guests have come to expect an exceptional dining experience at The Lanesborough,” said Geoffrey Gelardi, managing director of The Lanesborough. “It is for this reason that we have sought out Nick Bell and created Apsleys, which will serve as an integral addition to London’s dining scene as well as a staple for our guests. Apsleys is a reflection of our commitment to offer our clientele innovative cuisine and impeccable service in an intimate contemporary ambiance.”
Located on Hyde Park Corner, Apsleys will be housed in what was formerly The Conservatory Restaurant. Guests will be indulged in an exquisite atmosphere under the famous Lanesborough glass roof—making for a stunning and vibrant dining spot.
A hotel as grand as The Lanesborough deserves an equally inspiring chef, and Apsleys will be under the stewardship of distinguished head chef Nick Bell. Serving up modern Italian dishes with a decadent finishing touch such as beef steak Fiorentina with bone marrow sauce – carved at your table for two. Chef Bell will use the finest seasonal produce much of which will be imported directly from Italy.
Apsleys’ unique design and culinary environment was merged by Geoffrey Gelardi, putting together the world-renowned design of Adam Tihany and culinary expertise of Nick Bell. Apsleys’ was designed by the Tihany Design Company, founded by Adam D. Tihany and known for successfully integrating bold, contemporary designs in landmark spaces. The company designed some of the world’s most famous restaurants, including Le Cirque, Jean-Georges, Per Se in New York and The French Laundry in California. Apsleys’ design will create a contemporary space that will complement the traditional Regency design of the hotel.
Since it first opened in 1991, The Lanesborough has been recognized for The Library Bar’s rare cognac collection, and now will introduce the same level of sophistication to the impressive wine collection at Apsleys. Guests will be invited into the wine cellar to personally select, decant and discuss their wine selection with Andrew Conner. Renowned sommelier Connor, who has worked at Cecconi’s and Le Pont de la Tour, will oversee a unique wine preservation system within the restaurant. Utilizing the celebrated ‘Enomatic’ process that completely preserves the taste, body and aroma of wine, will allow Apsleys to offer some of the world’s greatest wines by the glass. Every other week there will be a new selection of glasses from an Italian region reflecting the current menu.
