Mandarin Oriental, Sanya, the exclusive resort on Hainan, China’s only tropical island, will offer guests an unparalleled range of dining experiences when it opens in the second half of 2008.

A variety of chic, innovative dining options, complemented by spectacular sea views from each outlet, are planned for each of the eleven restaurants and bars. A team of talented chefs is busy creating menus that showcase the unique culinary creativity and attention to detail for which Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is renowned.

Yi Yang (Chinese Restaurant)
Located on the ground level and reminiscent of the Imperial City, this classic restaurant will reflect the very best in authentic Cantonese cuisine and will serve the freshest dim sum at lunch and the finest seafood and time-honoured Chinese dishes in the evening. With a total seating of 166 persons, Yi Yang will feature a large main dining area and six private dining rooms each with a unique identity. It also has a Tea Bar with a Chinese Tea Master.

Pavilion (All-Day Dining Restaurant)
For all-day dining by the sea, this 245-seat relaxed family restaurant will offer a tempting fusion of Asian and Western delights featuring brunch-style buffet breakfast. Pavilion will feature live cooking stations and a permanent barbeque corner with skillful chefs creating an eclectic variety of cuisine, from fresh energy-packed juices, smoothies and traditional Chinese breakfasts to continental lunches, Mediterranean dinners and tempting sweet treats.

Fresh (Seafood Restaurant)
Located right on the beachfront, this stunning seafood restaurant will serve the freshest and tastiest seafood from on-site seafood tanks, prepared in a selection of Southeast Asian and “Provençal” French styles. A unique wood and coconut fire grill makes this peaceful beach-side restaurant the perfect spot for intimate dinners or relaxed gatherings, with traditional Hainan cultural entertainment as a special feature on selected evenings.

Sunset Bar
Overlooking Coral Bay and the gentle waters of the South China Sea, the Sunset Bar will specialise in enticing cocktails, meticulously presented in elegant glassware and prepared by experienced cocktail mixologists. Ranging from the classic and signature to the innovative cocktails, Sunset Bar also serves a comprehensive wine and spirits menu, as well as a refreshing choice of juices and smoothies.

MO Blues
This 80-seat jazz bar will be home to the sultry, soulful sounds of renowned overseas jazz performers and talented musicians. With an exclusive integrated walk-in humidor containing an extensive range of the world’s finest cigars, a cigar roller for tailor made cigars and Middle Eastern Hookah pipes, MO Blues will be a treat for cigar connoisseurs. MO Blues will also feature an extensive range of single malt whiskies in China, which will be served in hand-cut crystal glasses.

Wine Cellar
The resort’s intimate Wine Cellar will boast an extensive wine list in Sanya, with a stunning selection of over 3,000 bottles from 200 different winemakers.

Wave and Pool Bar (Pool Bar Restaurant)
Inspired by American and Mexican cuisine, the poolside Wave restaurant will serve nachos, hotdogs and hamburgers, along with mouth-watering pizzas from the wood fire oven. At the pool’s sunken bar and at the poolside, guests can enjoy freshly squeezed juices, smoothies, cocktails and complimentary refreshments. A unique feature will be the ‘late afternoon refreshment’ served on a surfboard that will glide over the swimming pool at sunset.

Mee & Mian (Noodle Restaurant)
The contemporary beachfront Noodle Bar will serve a sumptuous selection of the freshest Asian and Western noodles. Guests will also be able to enjoy observing the art of noodle-making from the renowned “La Mian” chefs.

The Cliff (Executive Lounge for Suite and Villa Guests)
Set on one of the resort’s highest points, the secluded Cliff Lounge will be an all-day private dining retreat available exclusively for villa and suite guests, serving complimentary Continental breakfasts, snacks, cocktails and a selection of wines, champagnes, beers and juices.

Room Service
Mandarin Oriental’s renowned cuisine will also be available via the resort’s 24 hour in-room dining service, which will offer an extensive selection of Asian and Western cuisines. Villa and suite guests can take advantage of their own, personal butler who can arrange a ‘home-style’ barbecue in the comfort and privacy of their own garden or terrace.

Conferences, banquets & weddings
With over 900 square metres of banquet and conference space and state-of-the-art meeting and catering facilities, Mandarin Oriental, Sanya is the perfect venue for any kind of celebration or meeting, such as wedding receptions, corporate events, team-building activities and private parties. The 525 sq m Coral Bay Ballroom, perched on the highest point of the resort, will be able to accommodate up to 450 guests for cocktail receptions. In addition, five well-equipped function rooms will be available for smaller groups. The resort’s beautiful beachfront and lush landscape offer a fabulous setting for outdoor functions.
