Hotels are just steps from Convention Center and area attractions

Just in time for the Kentucky Derby, White Lodging expands its footprint in The River City with the opening of two new downtown hotels. The Fairfield Inn & Suites (100 E. Jefferson St.) and SpringHill Suites (132 E. Jefferson St.) are opening their doors on Monday, April 14, 2008, offering leisure and business travelers with unparalleled conveniences in the heart of Louisville.

White Lodging teamed up with REI Investments of Carmel, Indiana; and local investors to develop the nine-story 198-suite SpringHill Suites and the six-floor Fairfield Inn & Suites, which will feature 115 regular rooms and 20 suites. The SpringHill Suites is new construction, while a large part of the Fairfield Inn & Suites is a renovation of the old Inn at Jewish Hospital.

White Lodging, one of Marriott's largest franchisers, will manage the two hotels. It also operates the Marriott Louisville Downtown and manages a portfolio of more than 129 mid- to large-scale hotels throughout the country.

Bob Gigliotti, former GM of the downtown 21C Museum Hotel, will be general manager of the hotels which will have shared amenities, including an indoor swimming pool; an outdoor terrace with breathtaking views of downtown Louisville; a 700-square-foot fitness center; and 2,200 square feet of meeting space.

"The two hotels' stylish suites are twenty five percent larger than comparably priced hotel rooms in the city and will offer all the comfort and service you expect to find in a Marriott brand hotel," says Gigliotti. "These properties are an exciting addition to the Louisville landscape particularly given their proximity to the Convention Center and other area attractions," he adds.

Amenities at the two hotels include daily hot breakfast at both hotels; wireless high-speed Internet access; a 24-hour business center; luxurious bedding; iPod docking station; a refrigerator, microwave and more.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites and SpringHill Suites are just a stone's throw from both the Kentucky International Convention Center and the medical complex and blocks from 4th Street Live, the University of Louisville, Churchill Downs, the Louisville Slugger Museum -- home to the world-famous Louisville Slugger baseball bat -- the Kentucky Derby Museum and more.

The hotels also participate in the Marriott Rewards frequent guest program, where members can earn their choice of points toward free vacations or frequent flyer mileage for dollars spent at Marriott hotels.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites (100 E. Jefferson St.; 502-569-3553) and SpringHill Suites (132 E. Jefferson St.; 502-569-7373) will offer individual room reservations on April 14, 2008 ranging from $149 to $179 a night.
