Great Hotels of the World , representing some of the world’s finest independent hotels, is delighted to announce this month’s opening of the luxurious new Palms Hotel in Mumbai, India.

Heralded as Mumbai’s first super-luxury business hotel, Palms hotel offers a novel villa concept for corporate executives visiting the city. This luxurious villa concept, however, also means the needs of the hotel’s discerning leisure guests are similarly exceeded.

Offering a tranquil, relaxing and peaceful oasis in the middle of Mumbai, Palms Hotel makes the most of its landscaped garden estate setting to create a luxurious sense of space and nature. The new hotel offers a total of 106 luxury villas, which are arranged to encourage a unique village community feel around a central haven, called ‘The Lodge’. As part of this and to retain exclusivity and privacy, the public areas of the hotel are not open to public access except where an invitation has been extended from a resident hotel guest.

The villas themselves aim to create a luxurious yet homely ambience, meaning the finest fabrics, linens and furnishings are used while an emphasis is also placed on offering both generous space and plenty of natural light. The six different types of villa range in size from around 1,000-2,400sqft and all offer private swimming pools and open-air balconies, round the clock personal butler service, Jacuzzis, in-room dining options and in-room massages on request.

Layout of the villas is similar across the categories through the inclusion of separate living areas. The wellness villas, however, also offer a personalised gym with attached steam room and sauna, while the family villa is the most exclusive, elegant and spacious, offering two bedrooms and the largest pool-deck.

Outside the villas, guests also have access to the central Lodge area, which is the common focal point for the hotel. Facilities include: the ‘Aravinda Spa’, offering French and Thai masseurs, steam, sauna and Jacuzzi facilities plus a gym; a beauty parlour offering pedicures, manicures, facials and makeovers; plus the main pool, tennis and squash courts.

Dining at the hotel is catered for at three outlets. The rustic ‘Oliver’s Café’ offers 24-hour Indian and international cuisine, while the Pool Bar is available for designer cocktails and snacks, including sizzlers and grills. The speciality restaurant, however, is‘Villaggio’, an Italian-themed eatery benefitting from views overlooking the pool and valley. The menu includes delicacies such as cheeses, salads and deserts, which can be accompanied by cocktails and spirits from the bar.

For business guests, the hotel boasts Wi-Fi connectivity and an advanced business centre. The hotel offers a total of four rooms for meetings, the largest of which is 196m2 and can cater for a 180 person cocktail reception, 175 delegates in theatre-style or 96 guests for a banquet. In addition, the centre is also able to provide secretarial, technological and support services to ensure meetings can run smoothly.
