Governor Tim Pawlenty has proclaimed Thursday, Feb. 28, as "Carlson Day" in Minnesota in recognition of the company's 70th anniversary.
“We are incredibly grateful to Governor Pawlenty and the State of Minnesota for 70 years of support,” said Marilyn Carlson Nelson, Carlson chairman and CEO. As a company, we wouldn’t have wanted to be born anyplace else.”
Carlson, a global leader in the travel, hotel, restaurant, cruise and marketing industries, will continue its anniversary celebration with a day-long, international business summit and world gala for invited guests on Feb. 28 in Las Vegas. Nelson and incoming Carlson President and CEO Hubert Joly will co-host the Imagination Summit, which will include Her Majesty Queen Silvia; Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, chairman and CEO of Nestlé; Maya Angelou, poet, author and educator; and Dr. Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman, World Economic Forum.
Regis Philbin will host the evening gala, featuring appearances by Tony Bennett, Garrison Keillor, O Tahiti E, the Boys Choir of Kenya, Paul Potts of the U.K., Maria Alexandrova of Russia, and the Taiko Drum Ensemble of Japan.
