Upscale Private Island Resort Delights Discerning Travelers
With Seclusion, Superb Food and Friendly Service

Palm Island, a casually elegant private-island hideaway in the Caribbean, is a nominee for a 2008 Award for Excellence by Condé Nast Johansens, an international luxury travel guide from Condé Nast Publications Ltd.

“Our staff is very proud that Palm Island is part of such a select group,” said Steven E. Heydt, Elite Island Resorts president. “Palm Island prides itself on its friendly service and incomparable setting. With only 42 guest rooms, this secluded 135-acre hideaway allows guests to completely unwind while savoring the natural island beauty, superb food, and low-key activities. It’s hard to find a resort that combines such a removed-from-the-world feeling with the upscale comforts of Palm Island. It’s a very special place.”
“I am pleased to say it has been quite a task to select the nominations,” said Lesley O’Malley-Keyes, VP & Publishing Director, The Americas. “Condé Nast Johansens recommends only properties that meet our exemplary standards, so the nominees for the Excellence Awards represent the best of the best, the very finest hotels and resorts in the world.”
Nominees were selected from the Recommended Hotels, Inns, Resorts & Spas – The Americas, Atlantic, Caribbean, Pacific by the Condé Nast Johansens team of inspectors, readers, and hotel guests during 2007. Guests made their suggestions online at www.johansens.com or by completing one of the Award for Excellence cards available at all Condé Nast Johansens Recommended accommodations. The winners of the prestigious awards will be revealed later this month.
Palm Island, located near the southern tip of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a chain of 32 islands and cays known for stunning natural beauty and clear warm waters, was nominated as “Most Excellent Resort” in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Pacific Islands. Yachters and divers from around the world gravitate to this unspoiled paradise, lured by its abundant sea life, beautiful reefs and challenging shipwrecks. Palm Island is ringed by five white-sand beaches and traversed by nature trails. Here, guests enjoy activities such as windsurfing, snorkeling, kayaking, tennis and sailing.
