The promise of the Dusit brand is the delivery of an
‘experience that enlivens the individual spirit no matter what the journey’.
To begin 2008 and to celebrate the successful rebranding of Thailand’s premier international hotel chain, Dusit International begins the Japan Roadshow today [Monday 18 February] in Fukuoka, followed by Osaka & Tokyo to share the exciting developments of the company.
The group is led by Octavio Gamarra, Senior Vice President, Dusit International - a collection of hotels and resorts
Mr Gamarra points out, “Our company has reached another crossroad – in the past, we have achieved distinctive prominence, attention and prestige in the Japanese market; but now, we feel that we are confidently positioned not just to rest on our laurels, but instead to bravely face the big challenge of the international arena. Our portfolio is currently filled with dynamic new ventures in India and the Middle East, with other major markets such as Egypt, China and Australia following closely.”
In order to capture the Japanese visitors to Dusit International destinations - whether they be in Thailand, Manila or the Middle East, our new Japanese dusit.com will launch on 21 February 2008. Octavio Gamarra said “Dusit International is fully committed to the Japanese market and have invested significantly in designing and translating a new website to help the Japanese travellers make the most of their journey, whether it is for business or leisure.
“In addition to these exciting developments, Dusit Thani Manila has completed its extensive renovations and as the most popular hotel in Manila for Japanese travellers, we are looking forward to its new future.”
The timing is right, geographically the company is in the right place, and the pioneering of Dusit brand and hotel sub-brands to the rest of the world – these are the key elements that today have propelled Dusit International to the world stage of hospitality, with major expansions its first task of business.
With comprehensive company restructuring constantly putting Dusit International on the move, a large team of high-calibre hospitality executives possess the background, the will and the determination to boost Dusit International’s solid reputation for successful operations in its niche markets to much wider, more challenging projects, future planning and opportunities.
In terms of Dusit expanding its hotel portfolio, both within Thailand and internationally, some exciting announcements are to be noted.
Dusit Princess Hotels & Resorts opened its first resort property, the Dusit Princess Resort, Koh Chang on 1 November 2007, located on Ao Bai Lan with a total 96 accommodation units.
The second dusitD2 Hotels & Resorts (dusitD2 chiang mai was the first, opened in 2005) is the dusitD2 baraquda, pattaya. It is scheduled to open 1 October 2008 with a total of 72 rooms.
This year two new exciting properties will be added to our Middle East collection - where we have the Dusit Thani Dubai, and Pearl Coast Premier Hotel Apartments - which are the 146 units Dusit Residence, Dubai Marina, set to open 1 May 2008, followed by Dusit Thani LakeView Cairo on 1 June 2008.
Dusit International’s Middle East Regional Office in Dubai has been most active. Future developments include Dusit Palm Jumeirah Island - comprising a Dusit Devarana hotel (116 rooms), a Dusit Thani hotel (292 rooms) and a Dusit Residence (180 apartment units) - will open in 2010, and the Dusit Thani, Abu Dhabi - comprising a Dusit Thani hotel (593 rooms) and a Dusit Residence (408 apartment units) - to also open in 2010.
Historically, Dusit Hotels & Resorts, the predecessor hotel group of what has now become Dusit International, goes back 60 years. The company’s founder, Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui, had a dream: “I would like to build a hotel like the ones I admired in the USA, but one that would be specifically Thai,” she vowed to herself from the beginning.
The sheer challenge and ambitiousness of her vision and mission in life continue to inspire Dusit to this day and for always - to be bold and do great things, to create and invent, to consistently pursue perfection, but always to remain true to its Thai identity; which has likewise been the cornerstone of the company’s previous unforgettable campaign, ‘Dusit, the Thai way of life.’ The future beckons, and Dusit International in effect marks another promising beginning.
