Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) has opened the flagship 588-room JW Marriott Hotel Beijing in Beijing, China, under a management agreement with Hua Mao Surapan Hotel Development Company. The luxurious 23-story hotel was designated as Marriott’s “3,000th” property.

The JW Marriott Hotel Beijing is located in the heart of the capital city, just east of Beijing’s ever growing central business district. The hotel is located adjacent to the soon to open 305-room The Ritz-Carlton, Beijing. The two hotels anchor Beijing’s newest and most prestigious luxury address, China Central Place. The bold new complex features more than 230,000 square meters of high-end office space; eight residential towers; 160,000 square meters of luxury brand retail shops, such as Ferragamo and Gucci; and spacious green areas and a sports center.

“We are thrilled by the opening of this flagship JW Marriott Hotel in Beijing,” said Geoff Garside, executive vice president for Marriott’s Asia-Pacific region. “The JW Marriott brand is synonymous with luxury and service, and we look forward to welcoming our guests and being part of this vibrant community."

World-renowned architects Kohn Pederson Fox Architects were responsible for the distinctive exterior design of the hotel. Hirsch Bender Associates designed the modern interior, featuring contemporary art from around the world, including post-modern paintings, sculptures and photographs.

The hotel boasts 549 deluxe and executive guest rooms and 39 suites, capturing a sense of approachable luxury and subtle sophistication. Guest rooms facing south feature serene garden views, and those facing north offer a vista of the bustling China Central Place and beyond to Chaoyang Park.

Each guest room features a sumptuous blend of colors and textures, including soft ivory leather sofa chairs complemented by pressed leather palates on the sliding doors, tables and ergonomic desk. Paying homage to China’s thriving art scene, vibrant contemporary paintings adorn the walls, matched with throw pillows and hand-embroidered quilts in cheerful colors. Glass panels separate the bathroom from the bedroom, allowing natural light to radiate across the room, matched in luminescence by the chic, sunshine yellow and silver bathroom accessories. Crisp, white bed linens and plush natural feather mattresses offer the ultimate in comfort. Each room is equipped with a 42-inch flat-screen LCD TV, as well as a DVD player with USB connectivity to allow guests to play personal audio and video selections or review laptop files on the large LCD screen. All bathrooms are equipped with an LCD screen above the bath as well.

The Executive Lounge, located on the 20th floor offers a relaxing environment featuring superior food and beverage selections. A state-of-the-art business center is open 24 hours daily, and for meetings and events the hotel boasts 1,800 square meters of adaptable function space and a 1,294-square-meter Grand Ballroom.

For dining and entertainment, the JW Marriott Hotel Beijing is home to three unique restaurants: Asia Bistro, which offers the best in gourmet Asian cuisine in a bustling dining room featuring live cooking stations and an open kitchen area; Pinot Brasserie, which fuses contemporary design with more traditional French features and serves a wide selection of authentic French and European cuisine; and Cru Steakhouse, which boasts an impressive selection of wines, succulent cuts of meat and fresh seafood. After dinner, guests can choose to relax with a signature cocktail and listen to live music at the chic Loong Bar or enjoy classic cocktails in the hotel’s Lobby Lounge.

An exceptional feature of the hotel is the addition of the award-winning Quan Spa. The third Marriott International signature Quan Spa in China, and only the fifth in the world, the spa features exclusive therapies and treatments designed to harness the natural healing powers of water. The Quan Spa at the JW Marriott Hotel Beijing offers ten unique treatment rooms, including group, couples and individual treatment suites, each with individual changing facilities, toilet and spacious showers. Three suites feature individual hydrotherapy tubs.

From the reception area to each of the individual suites, the Quan Spa is designed to reflect the soothing properties of water with distinctive local touches to create a unique sense of place. Dramatic raindrop sculptures and modern paintings resembling the ocean adorn the walls, while chandeliers float from the ceiling in a spiral of bubbles. Iridescent azure curtains shimmer like rain, and water feature walls create a tranquil soundtrack to relax and unwind to.

Quan’s extensive menu features a wide range of massage, facial and body therapies. Signature treatments include the Marine Detox, a relaxing bath using marine salts, algae and essential oils to eliminate toxins and improve vitality and the Ocean Rainshower Body Treatment designed to invigorate the body with an aromatic body scrub applied under the soothing water jets of a Vichy Shower.

The managing director of the hotel is Robert Lohrmann and the general manager is Franco Io. Don Lau is the director of sales and marketing and Joan Pan is the director of communications. The hotel is offering an exclusive opening rate of RMB 1,450 per night (USD $193) plus 15% surcharge until Feb. 29, 2008.
The JW Marriott Hotel Beijing, along with over 2,500 Marriott-affiliated hotels worldwide, participates in Marriott Rewards, the guest reward program that allows members to earn their choice of points or airline miles for every dollar spent during each stay.
