In appointing Fabio Datteroni as General Manager of the La Palma Hotel in Capri, the Oetker Collection is playing the experience card, as the Tuscan can boast over thirty years' experience in the hotel industry.

Recently appointed General Manager of Terme Di Saturnia Natural Destination, Spa and Golf Resort, he also spent seven years as Director and then General Manager of Castello Del Nero Hotel & Spa where, during his tenure, he was named Best General Manager of the Year at the Luxury Travel Advisor's Awards of Excellence.

Prior to that, he was involved in the opening of Castello Banfi Il Borgo in Montalcino, where he stayed for six years as General Manager and Director of Accommodation. Fabio Datteroni has also worked in prestigious establishments such as the Grand Hotel Continental in Siena and as an advisor to several high-end Italian properties.

"I am delighted and extremely honoured to take on the role of General Manager of Hotel La Palma. The transformation of this property is simply incredible. Hotel La Palma is a masterpiece, perfectly poised to reign as the social epicentre of Capri. I can't wait to open the doors of this very special place and welcome our guests," said a delighted Fabio Datteroni, upon his induction.

Built in 1822, Hotel La Palma was the first hotel to open in Capri. It is currently undergoing a major renovation. The number of rooms in the hotel has been significantly reduced from 80 to 50, including 18 suites, each with a private balcony or terrace.

Led by renowned architect Francis Sultana, recognised as one of the top 100 designers by Architectural Digest, the work will significantly transform the hotel.

Located on the most famous island in the Bay of Naples, and set on the no less famous Piazetta, La Palma Hotel incorporates a rooftop restaurant and bar, both under the direction of Italian chef Gennaro Esposito.

The hotel also features a newly built swimming pool and spa. Nearby, on the Marina Piccola, La Palma Hotel has installed its own private beach club, La Palma Beach Club.

"It is a great pleasure for me to share the appointment of Fabio as General Manager. Fabio is not only a seasoned hotelier who knows the Italian market inside out, but he also shares our values of family spirit, elegance and genuine kindness. Fabio will bring the Dolce Vita to our guests, and we are delighted that he is joining us at this pivotal moment in the history of the Oetker Collection," said Timo Gruenert, CEO of Oetker Collection.

With this jewel on a legendary island, the Oetker Collection Group adds another pearl to its sumptuous collection and further establishes itself as one of the leading luxury hotel groups.
