Rooftopping ceremony celebrates significant progress towards
August 2008 opening date.

Jumeirah, the dynamic and fast-growing Dubai based luxury international hospitality group and member of Dubai Holding, has completed the construction phase of its first hotel in Asia, a significant milestone in the lead up to its scheduled opening date in August 2008.

Jumeirah HanTang Xintiandi, the most prominent and prestigious new hotel development in the downtown Luwan district of Shanghai, will boast several unique attractions once completed – including a purpose-built wedding pavilion and signature Chinese restaurant – to complement the super-luxury guest rooms and service for which Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts have become renowned the world over.

The construction milestone follows the recent appointment of Doris Greif as General Manager of Jumeirah HanTang Xintiandi. Doris, who will be one of Shanghai’s first ever female hotel General Managers, joins the Jumeirah HanTang Xintiandi team from Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai, where she has held the position of General Manager since 2004.

Commenting on the rooftopping ceremony, Doris said: “We are delighted to celebrate such an important milestone in the lead up to Jumeirah HanTang Xintiandi opening in August 2008 and must acknowledge our valued business associates – Shanghai Hotel Investments Limited and Shui On Private Group – for their support throughout this venture.

“The project also brings to reality the vision of Leo Koguan, Chairman of Shanghai Lixing, who in collaboration with Jumeirah has created a partnership of excellence that will redefine luxury hotel standards in China,” Doris said.

Jumeirah HanTang Xintiandi is located in the heart of Xintiandi, an exciting restaurant and bar, retail and entertainment component of a master-planned 52 hectare development in the heart of downtown Puxi, Shanghai. The award-winning development also encompasses prestigious office space, high-end residential complexes and quality retail facilities.

The luxury hotel, designed by New York based Kohn Pedersen Fox Architects and Japanese interior design firm Super Potato, will feature 309 spacious guestrooms, suites and villas, extensive, state-of-the-art conference & banqueting facilities as well as the Talise Wellness Spa, Jumeirah's global spa brand. Guests and visitors seeking immediate gratification will also appreciate the hotel’s planned chocolate boutique.
