The hotel will be located on Alcala Street, one of Madrid’s most prominent avenues in the prestigious Canalejas area, surrounded by renowned luxury brands such as Hermès, Louis Vuitton, and Cartier.
This heritage-protected classical building will undergo a transformative redevelopment to become a mixed-use masterpiece, combining premium retail spaces on the ground floor with 154 elegant guest rooms and suites spanning across 10 floors and a fantastic rooftop providing breathtaking views over the city. The property’s unique location provides proximity to Madrid’s cultural and historical treasures, including Puerta del Sol, the Cibeles Fountain, National Museum El Prado, Plaza Mayor and El Retiro Park.
Federico J. González, Executive Vice Chairman of Radisson Hotel Group says: “With a spectacular location, the arrival of our lifestyle luxury Radisson Collection brand in Madrid will be a catalyst to accelerate the development of Radisson Hotel Group in Spain, where we currently have 8 hotels in operation and now this landmark project under development, as well as some others that we will announce soon. We are proud to debut this project alongside Generali, a strategic partner of the Group with whom we have already collaborated in Rome and Venice. This will be an iconic hotel in Madrid and a privileged destination for both local and international guests.”
Guests will enjoy a selection of high-end amenities, including a signature restaurant and bar on the first level, LYON Bar, a stunning rooftop bar and restaurant on the 13th floor with sweeping city views, a state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center and a spa. The ground floor will include various stores, providing an exclusive shopping experience.
This project, developed in collaboration with the prestigious Lamela architecture studio, promises to become a benchmark of luxury and sophistication in the Spanish capital. The design will honor the building’s historical architecture while offering the bespoke, renowned Radisson Collection modern luxury. Benedetto Giustiniani, Head of Southern Europe Region at Generali Real Estate, comments: "The transformation of the iconic Alcalá 21 building into a Radisson Collection hotel represents another important step in our ongoing growth as investors in the European hospitality sector, with an incredible asset that enriches Generali's hotel property portfolio. We are also very pleased to strengthen our cooperation with a top-tier global player like Radisson Hotel Group at the European level, following the successful collaborations on the prestigious Radisson Collection Hotel, Roma Antica in Rome and Radisson Collection Hotel, Palazzo Nani in Venice. We believe this is a great time to continue investing in Madrid, where we manage a high-quality real estate portfolio and, through our projects, contribute to the sustainable urban development of the city."
The Radisson Collection hotel in Madrid will be a defining addition to the Radisson Collection portfolio, combining bespoke design, a vibrant location, and unparalleled luxury. Its strategic positioning in the heart of Madrid’s cultural and commercial hub ensures its place as a premier destination for both international travelers and local patrons.
