Designated a National Historic Landmark District, the former mining town holds an authentic charm, from its film, jazz, and blues festivals to its arts and community events.

Putting down roots just above the town in Mountain Village, Six Senses Telluride will be tucked into a box canyon flanked by the rugged 14,000-foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains.

The area offers a unique vacation home appeal for its easy access to a vast ski domain in winter and natural playground in spring and summer, when wildflowers blanket the slopes.

With nature this striking, Six Senses will blend the drama unfolding outdoors with interiors that are carved as gracefully as a perfect turn in the snow.

The 77-key resort and 24 branded residences exude an airy and refined sophistication that respects and reflects the setting, which was key to the project’s approval, along with LEED Silver certification.

That’s because, as with all Six Senses properties, sustainability is at the forefront of the resort’s operations.

As part of IHG Hotel & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, Six Senses Telluride also marks IHG’s first luxury resort and residences in North America’s Mountain West region.

Neil Jacobs, CEO, Six Senses, said, “Becoming an active part of the community is hugely important to us and so where better to begin our North American mountain adventure than Telluride, with the global sophistication of Mountain Village and eclectic old-world nature of the town below. Having lived in the Colorado Rockies in the 1980s, I can attest to the mountain environment lending itself to the expression of our values around wellness and sustainable development today.”

The development team, led by Matthew Shear and David Jaskel at The Vault Home Collection, has been working closely with Six Senses to bring a one-of-a-kind outdoor and wellness-driven hospitality and residential experience to the Telluride area.

Commenting on the partnership, Matthew said, “We are delighted to be joining forces with Six Senses. The spectacular Colorado landscape, sublime snow conditions, and quaint community-feel of Mountain Village inspired us to lay roots here. This project is the culmination of our ongoing collaboration with Six Senses to open this premier mountain destination to the world’s most discerning travelers and residents. Our shared vision is to ensure Six Senses Telluride is nothing short of spectacular.”

Elemental inspiration

With each passing season comes unique vistas, activities, and experiences, inspiring the resort’s masterplan, led by architects Vault Design, and providing a visual guide for the guest rooms, family rooms, and suites.

Using natural materials with local and historic relevance, exteriors comply with the town standard and the finishes blend cedar siding and local stone.

Interiors are designed by Rose Ink Workshop, with a warm, light palette to celebrate the purity of the natural elements.
The 24 branded residences will range from two to five bedrooms, and some will feature a den.

On days where the mountains don’t call, a gym, cinema, lounge, and games room will provide homegrown entertainment.

From first lifts to last orders

In winter, the extensive ski concierge services will ensure guests and residents are first on the slopes without having to lift a ski or buckle a boot, while remaining on hand to book a range of crafted experiences.

As the snow melts, the on-site Experiences Team will whisper best-kept secrets for hiking, biking, fishing, rafting, and destination dining.

The multiple food and beverage spaces will include a specialty restaurant, Omakase dining, the only rooftop venue with pool in Telluride, and a speakeasy bar.

A buzzy retail, market hall, and conference space will be open to the surrounding community.

Science, spirituality, and vitality

After a day spent in, on, or above the mountains, Six Senses Spa Telluride will restore energy levels and soothe aching muscles.

Guests and residents can turn up the heat and turn down the tension in the sauna, steam and hammam, and then take the plunge in the cryotherapy bath to stimulate circulation and rejuvenation.

The sensory single and double treatment rooms will blend high-tech longevity and recovery elements with ancient healing traditions incorporating sound and the spiritual energy of human touch.

At Six Senses, wellness starts with its own family.

Host accommodations including a library and restaurant will be transformed from typical, utilitarian facilities into creative, inviting, and healthy spaces to relax, recharge, and reconnect.

Six Senses Telluride is situated a scenic 387-mile drive from Denver International Airport, 68-mile drive from Montrose Airport, and seven-mile drive from Telluride International Airport.

A free, eight-mile pedestrian gondola connects Mountain Village to the historic town in a 13-minute ride, while also providing ski access.

It expands the brand’s presence in the U.S with previously announced signings including Six Senses Napa and Six Senses South Carolina Islands.

Following the opening of Six Senses La Sagesse in April, Six Senses Grand Bahama and Six Senses Xala on the Pacific Coast of Mexico are also under development.

Six Senses Telluride is set to open in 2028.
