Capella Hotels and Resorts is proud to present the second edition of Senses of Capella at its celebrated Vietnam property, Capella Hanoi, from 17 to 20 October 2024.

This year’s Senses of Capella will bring together, over four days, extraordinary experiences from seven destinations with a line-up of the brand’s cultural mavens, culinary maestros and wellness experts.

Tradition, discovery, individuality and shared delights converge within the artistic surrounds of Capella.

Hanoi, which is mere steps from the Hanoi Opera House and Hanoi’s Old Quarter from which the hotel’s elegant interiors draw inspiration.

Cristiano Rinaldi, President, Capella Hotel Group, says, “We’ve enriched and expanded Senses of Capella after a successful inaugural run in Singapore last year. This edition, guests can expect extraordinary cultural, arts and wellness moments in addition to culinary highlights from our stable of award-winning chefs. Every Capella hotel encapsulates the best of its locale and our colleagues are masters in the craft of curating experiences that connect guests with the rich tapestry of each destination. You can imagine how excited we are to showcase Capella’s brightest talents across the region at Capella Hanoi.”

Senses of Capella opens on 17 October with a welcome soirée inviting bon vivants to make meaningful connections with one another.

Legendary DJ and producer Bert Bevans, who has played at New York's Studio 54 and London's Ministry of Sound, helms the decks, taking guests on a free-wheeling dancefloor with disco classics for the celebratory opening, followed by three days of curated experiences that are guaranteed to delight and inspire.

Cultural experiences

Senses of Capella was born to foster bonds through shared experiences that inspire. Guests will have the opportunity to connect with different cultures represented by diverse Capella destinations, from creative endeavours such as Peranakan Tile Painting (Capella Singapore) to Traditional Balinese Mask Making (Capella Ubud), Lanna Umbrella Painting (Capella Bangkok), and Vietnamese fan art (Capella Hanoi).

“Steeped in Tradition” is a deep dive into the distinct coffee and tea cultures of Southeast Asia, Australia and China. Coffee experts from Capella Hanoi, Sydney, and Ubud, together with a distinguished tea master from Shanghai, will explore the distinctive nuances of their respective coffee and tea cultures, unveiling roasting traditions unique to each locale while sharing ancient ceremonies.

Wellness experiences

Balancing ancient traditions with modern therapies, Senses of Capella invites guests to embrace holistic wellness.

Sound healing practitioner Ashley Tan will unlock the incredible power of sound healing to achieve clarity of mind and a natural state of wellness through “Rejuvenating Acoustics”.

As the visionary founder of From Root to Sky Inc., Celia Lam will lead guests to craft herbal remedies with locally-sourced ingredients that naturally boost immunity in “Food Remedy”. Known for her passion and knowledge of conscious dining, she will also host a meticulously curated, plant-inspired lunch.

Culinary experiences

In “Vietnamese-French Four Hands” on 19 October, Executive Chef Ramses of Capella Shanghai’s Michelin-starred Le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire and Chef Tran Quang Binh, the culinary maestro at Backstage, a Michelin-listed restaurant in Hanoi, team up to present a blended culinary tapestry of modern-day Vietnam influenced by French cooking techniques.

Also happening the same day is “The Grand Kitauchi Showcase”, where Head Chef Yamaguchi Hiroshi of Hibana by Koki will take centre stage with a masterful teppanyaki display – affirming his restaurant’s standing as the only one-Michelin-starred Japanese establishment in the country. Only the finest Kitauchi beef from Okinawa's Ishigaki Island, air-flown exclusively by Koki, will be featured.

Master chefs from Bangkok, Hanoi, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, and Ubud will return to their starring roles in a bid to reinvent authentic flavours in “Capella Culinary Stars”, an exclusive, once-in-a-year showcase that highlights the singular talents of each chef in a collaborative setting.

“Capella Mega Brunch” on 20 October, multiaward-winning Chefs Nicola Russo (Capella Ubud, Bali), Chef Niro Richards (Capella Sydney), Chef Yamaguchi Hiroshi (Capella Hanoi) and Chef Ramses (Capella Shanghai) will whip up a spread to conclude Senses of Capella on a sensational note.
