The Hawanawana Spa at Four Seasons Resort Lanai has recently debuted a series of treatments and classes rooted in sound therapy.

The ancient practice of sound healing involves the use of instruments such as singing bowls, gongs and chimes to create vibrations, bringing the receiver’s brain wave frequencies into an alpha or theta state; these are frequencies used to heal on a cellular level.

Numerous studies and clinical trials have demonstrated its efficacy in various areas, including stress reduction, pain management, and emotional balance. Guests seeking to reduce stress, improve sleep, or enhance overall well-being can discover this practice for themselves with new treatments and classes including:

Three Senses Aroma Massage

This 90-minute treatment features an aromatherapy massage combined with sound therapy.

The massage blends the healing power of touch with the aromatic allure of locally-sourced Hawaiian flowers and premium essential oils such as Plumeria, Pikake, or Tiare enveloping one in a cocoon of floral bliss with a deeper cultural connection.

Then melodic tones of Tibetan singing bowls or oceanic drumming reverberate through the room to promote energetic balance and inner harmony. Emerge feeling replenished, reinvigorated, and deeply nourished on every level.

Cocoon Sound Meditation

Resident Healer and Reiki Master Caroline Reese combines vibratory instruments such as alchemy crystal singing bowls, gongs and indigenous percussion, leading guests on a profound journey through elemental sound and cosmic harmony. While safely and comfortably enveloped in an aerial yoga hammock, discover a pronounced restorative shift of mind, body, and spirit in this private 60-minute class.

Sound Bath Meditation

While relaxed and lying down in a quiet space, become immersed in sound vibrations that guide one towards a deeper meditative state. Find focus, relieve stress and more in this private 60-minute restorative, full-body listening experience.

Thought Field Therapy/ Emotional Freedom Technique

While more of an internal “sound,” TFT and EFT healing methods are based on the idea that energy flows along a network of pathways in the body and that blockages in the system can result in physical ailments. In a private 60-minute session, participants learn tapping sequences that focus on specific emotions and triggers as well as ways to manage stressful memories and triggers.

Frida Bokjo, Assistant Spa Director, shares, “Sound healing is a practice that is more unique but I believe worth trying. Have you ever seen an infant too young to speak, yet once music plays they are moved to tears as if they've been in this lifetime before? Or witnessed someone battling dementia who has forgotten how to eat but can strum the strings of an instrument as if it were an extension to their arm?” She continues, “Much like music, sound therapy uses vibrational frequencies to connect to our body’s constant state of vibration and results in a range of benefits.

Hawanawana Spa, whose Hawaiian name translates to whispering ocean, offers a range of Spa and Salon services available to book online, via the Four Seasons website or mobile app.

For stress-free travel, round-trip flights from Honolulu on Lanai Air are included on all bookings with arrivals taking place by December 31, 2025.

Ultimate luxury experience will end on 2024-12-31
