Reopened in the latter part of last year, the resort now features locally made cane materials in its elegant décor and lush tropical greenery surrounding each of its 34 rooms, embodying a perfect blend of eco-conscious living and opulent comfort.

By integrating sustainability into every aspect of the guest experience, the resort demonstrates how luxury and eco-responsibility can harmoniously coexist, aligning with the growing trend of eco-friendly tourism, and positioning itself as a premier eco-conscious hospitality destination.

The verdant surroundings not only provide a serene environment for guests but also reduce the need for extensive artificial landscaping.

The resort cultivates its own produce, ensuring that fresh, local ingredients are central to its culinary offerings, backed by a dedicated gardening team that meticulously tends to a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, enhancing the dining experience with ingredients harvested right from the resort's grounds.

In addition to growing its own produce, the resort sources other ingredients and supplies from local vendors, further supporting the local economy.

Guests are welcomed with the signature Ambarella drink, made from organically grown Ambarellas, offering a refreshing start to their stay.

Guests can experience Sri Lankan culture and traditions right out of the resort, with the resort featuring elements of Sri Lankan architecture, and indulging in various experiences such as authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, cultural activities like cooking classes, traditional dance performances, and visits to nearby historical sites.

The resort also showcases locally sourced artwork and handicrafts, supporting Sri Lankan artisans and adding cultural authenticity to the guest experience.

Fostering strong community bonds is one of the most admired aspects of the resort, and guests love it too.

Around 90 percent of its staff hail from nearby towns and are given various opportunities to enhance their skills and career prospects, which not only bolsters the local economy but also ensures exceptional service for guests.

It also has many community projects led by its staff, including beach cleanups, tree-planting initiatives, and educational workshops on environmental conservation, contributing to the overall well-being of the region.

Sun Siyam Pasikudah continuously implements energy-efficient practices, such as using solar and LED lighting, energy-saving appliances, and water conservation measures.

These efforts significantly reduce the resort's environmental impact and promote sustainable living. The resort’s waste management policy emphasizes waste reduction, recycling, and composting, significantly minimizing landfill contributions.

Additionally, eco-friendly cleaning products that are biodegradable and non-toxic are used throughout the property. Guests are also encouraged to participate in these eco-friendly practices, with recycling and composting bins conveniently provided in rooms and public areas.

This shows how the resort takes even the little steps to ensure a greener world.

Sun Siyam Pasikudah recently launched the CarePhant project, supporting the well-being of a young elephant named Kalo at the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe, Sri Lanka.

This initiative, in collaboration with the Department of Wildlife Conservation, reflects the resort’s profound commitment to biodiversity conservation and responsible tourism practices.

Sun Siyam Resorts is dedicated to operating sustainably and responsibly in the Maldives and Sri Lanka, offering authentic guest experiences.
