This achievement highlights the Hotel’s role as a leader in sustainable hospitality and its dedication to minimizing its environmental footprint.
A Story of Commitment and Innovation
From its debut, Four Seasons Hotel Montreal has prioritized sustainability as a core value, striving to create an environmentally responsible luxury experience for its guests.
The Hotel has adopted a holistic approach to minimize its ecological impact and maximize the responsible use of resources, despite the challenges posed by continuous 24/7 operations and the high standards required to satisfy its clientele.
The property utilizes cutting-edge technologies, policies, programs and has implemented innovative solutions to ensure energy efficiency, waste reduction, and resource conservation.
Innovative Environmental Initiatives
One of the key factors in achieving the 5 Green Keys rating has been the Hotel’s implementation of innovative solutions to ensure energy efficiency, waste reduction, and resource conservation. For example, by deactivating the "instant-on" feature on guest room televisions, the Hotel has reduced its overall emissions by 879,914 metric tons annually.
Additionally, replacing incandescent bulbs with low-power fluorescent lamps has resulted in annual savings of CAD 4,599.
In 2023, Four Seasons Hotel Montreal collected 29,600 kilograms (about 65,256.75 pounds) of cardboard and 62,700 kilograms (about 138,229.67 pounds) of compost, equivalent to the combined weight of 76 cars.
The Hotel also introduced an innovative kitchen oil and grease recovery system, recycling 50,300 litres (about 13,287.85 gallons) in just six months - enough water savings to meet the needs of 3,000 people for a week. The addition of a dedicated dishwasher position for sorting and implementing new recovery practices further embodies the Hotel’s proactive approach to waste reduction.
Partnerships and Community Initiatives
Four Seasons Hotel Montreal has also partnered with luxury brands such as Guerlain to promote sustainability.
In a recent event hosted in collaboration with Guerlain, the Hotel showcased its commitment to sustainable luxury by highlighting eco-friendly products and practices. This partnership not only enhances guest experiences but also aligns with the Hotel’s green initiatives.
