More than 50 years of shared history between Club Med and Vittel

Operating in Vittel since 1973, Club Med is constantly improving its services and facilities to offer an ever more complete all-inclusive holiday experience, and is innovating to meet the needs of customers looking for an authentic and relaxing experience in Vittel.

In 2024, after 10 months of renovation, Club Med Vittel Ermitage reopened completely renovated and modernized, under the supervision of Agence Prost, specialists in interior design.

Around €15 million has been invested in this transformation, thanks to Vittel Invest and its shareholders Banque des Territoires and Crédit Agricole Alsace Vosges, supervised by Atream, and the support of local authorities.

With a capacity of 132 rooms, including 28 new ones, this Resort will welcome families and active couples looking for nature, seminars, or international travelers discovering the French countryside in the Vosges.

Club Med Vittel Ermitage: a unique address

Unique and iconic, Club Med Vittel Ermitage, located in L’Ermitage hotel dating back to 1929, stands out for its architectural features, which are listed as historical monuments.

All the Resort's existing rooms have been renovated in line with their historic style, and 28 new ones have been added, all featuring Art Deco elements.

The common areas have been reinvented, unveiling a new, more contemporary look in line with new customer expectations: entrance, bar, restaurant, plus a new veranda.

As for activities, the fitness room has been completely redesigned, and Gravel bike rides complete the allinclusive Club Med Vittel Ermitage offer.

Outside, a new area called "Le Jardin" will enable guests to enjoy the green setting in which the Resort is located, as will the new outdoor swimming pool.

On this occasion, Henri Giscard d'Estaing, President of Club Med, declared: "We are pleased to be able to open the new Club Med Vittel Ermitage to our customers tomorrow. We are proud to contribute to the revitalization of the local tourist economy by promoting its unique heritage and continuing the development of the Vosges region. This achievement was made possible thanks to the strong support of our public partners: the Grand Est region, the Vosges department and the Commune of Vittel, all of whom were involved in both human and financial aspects of the project, as well as our private partners: Banque des Territoires and Crédit Agricole Alsace Vosges."

Mr. Franck Perry, Mayor of Vittel, commented: "The new offer of Club Med within the renovated Ermitage is a key element in the success of the Vittel Horizon 2030 strategy. It marks a new stage in Vittel's tourism project, implemented as a public-private partnership, combining the strengths and funding of both public and private partners. The work undertaken over the last few years with the various players involved is helping to revitalize Vittel as a destination, while preserving jobs, economic activity and the region's appeal. We're confident that the future spa eco-resort promoted by France Thermes will further strengthen our place in the economic and tourism sector of the region and department. The exceptional environment we offer, our unique heritage and our thermal and wellness expertise, among other things, will attract customers looking for relaxation".

François Vannson, President of the Vosges Department, said: "Developing the wellness sector, which is a fast-growing market, is a priority for the Department. To this end, in 2012 we created the FORê l'Effet Vosges brand with the ambition of building an innovative tourism product around sylvotherapy to promote the DNA of our territory: the forest. Vittel is one of the key assets in this strategy. Indeed, the town combines the charm of a breathtaking natural, cultural, sporting and spa environment with the charm and modernity of a hotel whose reputation extends beyond the blue line of the Vosges.”

Franck Leroy, President of the Grand Est Region added: "The reopening of the Hotel Ermitage marks the first success of our common efforts as part of the 'Vittel Horizon 2030' project. This ambitious project, the result of an exemplary public/private partnership, will enhance the attractiveness of our territory and boost the region's tourism economy. With this investment, we are affirming our determination to make Vittel a leading destination for wellness and tourism in the Grand Est region".

A responsible renovation

For many years, Club Med has been actively committed to responsible tourism, implementing several measures as part of its "Happy to Care" program.

Firstly, as part of its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development, the Resort is Green Globe certified, one of the most rigorous international and independent sustainable tourism certifications.

Club Med is also aiming for “Good” certification by BREEAM, an independent eco-building label recognized as one of the most demanding in the world, in the "renovation" category for this Resort.

With the "Bye-Bye Plastics" program, Club Med is committed to eliminating single-use plastics in the bars, restaurants and rooms of each of its Resorts worldwide.

In Vittel, the program has been taken a step further with the installation of filtered water fountains on each floor of the resort's accommodation area.

Each guest is invited to fill, as much as they wish, a carafe provided. They can also use a returnable glass water bottle. Club Med has also partnered with Vigie to support its initiatives to preserve water resources, promote a scientific approach to the environment and raise public awareness.

Thus, GO/GE teams will be trained on the subject of water resources, understanding their working environment, pollution issues and best practices, and activities will also be organized for customers.

Vittel: the rebirth of a major Grand Est destination

The major renovation of Club Med Vittel Ermitage is part of the Vittel Horizon 2030 project, the result of a strong ambition of the local authorities to revitalize Vittel as a destination, enrich its offer, and diversify its customer base.

Club Med, attached to the destination, its territory and its population, wishes, with this reinvented Resort, to provide its customers with the most beautiful experience of the Vosges during all-inclusive vacations L’Esprit Libre.
