This spring, the Mare e Terra group inaugurates Cap Menorca, Relais et Chateaux, in a finca right on the water, between cliffs and pinewoods. An intimate hotel where you can live in total harmony with nature, with a top-flight personalized concierge service. “

A hotel that looks like a small mediterranean paradise

A wild Eldorado where nature reigns supreme, Cap Menorca opens its doors in the middle of a 30-hectare Menorcan estate.

With a kilometer of coastline, shaded by umbrella pines and century-old olive trees, populated by palms and bougainvillea, this listed finca was, in turn, the country house of a historic island family, a military base armed with spectacular cannons and a squat for libertarian hippies. Today, it has been transformed into a unique Mediterranean hotel.

This flagship Mare e Terra project required 10 years of management at all levels of the Spanish administration and over two years of transformation work, planting over 24,000 indigenous Balearic plants and trees to create this unique Menorcan Eden.

15 luminous villas of monastic proportions

Designed for outdoor living, the 15 suites, decorated by Laurent Morel-Ruymen for Studio Mare e Terra, make use of the various buildings on the former military base to form a village of independent villas, each with its own garden and swimming pool.

They feature vernacular materials such as lime-coated Mares walls and limestone. Bathrooms feature hand-hammered copper-green terracotta and matte-white marble details, joinery is painted coach green or varnished, while hammered and guilloche-engraved teak furniture enriched with natural leather was also designed by Mare e Terra in a chic, comfortable, ethnic spirit.

The framed paintings in each suite, created by the Deux-ce studio as a tribute to Poliakov, coexist with a series of photographs taken on site before the work by French photographer Nicolas Guerin (“The Love Bunker” series) from Nic, recreating the Peace & Love atmosphere of the site's beatnick periode.

A minimalist décor in soft shades of white-beige-green (typical of Menorca), as if to remind us that what's important takes place outside. An interior designer's approach that flirts with landscaping.

Each suite has its own private garden and pond. Cocoons where you can recharge your batteries away from prying eyes, they also provide access to a titanic seawater pool, a sharing table, a sunken cove and a spa under the La Finca Minorca and Natura Bissé pavilions.

Laurent Morel-Ruymen, founder of the Mare e Terra group, explains:The greatest compliment we can receive is to think that we have done the minimum possible on this extraordinary site, to imagine that nature has always reigned supreme, and to think that we have been able to drastically reduce the human footprint on the land so that our guests can live in harmony with nature. Our aim is to create timeless places where life is good, while respecting the environment, whether urban, as in Faustino Gran, or maritime, as in Cap Menorca.”

Minorcan art of living at its best

Clinging to the rocky peninsula from which it takes its name, Cap Menorca also introduces travellers to the joys of the Minorcan art of living. An ultra-preserved island, rich in a UNESCO World Heritage biosphere, it has long been unknown to the general public.

As an invitation to lands steeped in authenticity, discreet luxury lies not so much in pomp as in a certain way of apprehending one's day, creating immutable memories and enriching human encounters. That's why each guest sets up his or her dream program with the 3 dedicated concierges.

A day aboard a sailboat or a gentleman yacht (one of which is 26 meters long) to discover the turquoise coves, exploring Menorca on horseback, a safari experience in a Land Rover... the possibilities are endless.

A contagious epicureanism

Mealtimes feature a vegetable-centered (but not exclusively) menu that changes every 15 days. Like lodges in the most remote locations, meals are taken in different places, according to the mood of the moment.

The only constants are breakfast, served every morning in the restaurant, and lunch, by the pool, which focuses on sunny recipes: grilled fish and meats, summer vegetables, crisp salads... Everything you love to eat in the summertime is on the shady tables.

The spa is open-air.

Before the arrival, in 2025, of an indoor area featuring a swimming pool and hammam, facial treatments by Natura Bissé and relaxing massages based on natural Majorcan oils from La Finca Minorca are offered on a terrace with a view. Lulled by the surf, their noses awakened by the Mediterranean vegetation, visitors can also ask to follow these wellness protocols in the privacy of their own garden. .

Mare e Terra, the group behind a myriad of refined living spaces

Laurent Morel-Ruymen, head of the Mare e Terra hotel group, discovered Menorca by sea in 2010. A keen sailor and horse-rider, he sees the unspoilt island as a rare destination with a prodigious heritage. In 2014, the group also inaugurated the Faustino Gran, a Relais et Chateaux in the center of Ciutadella, helping to preserve the island while developing its appeal.
