Now, the legendary street and its rich heritage will be home to the guests of Villa-des-Prés, opening 1st December 2023.
Ideally located in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, this new exclusive hotel draws attention, along the bend of the Rue de Buci, with its stunning post-Haussmann-style facade: hewn stone, typical Parisian portal, balconies…
In a quarter where fashion and culture meet, the characterful hôtel particulier is the perfect new intimate destination for Paris lovers. A unique atmosphere Past the front door, the discovery continues…
Villa-des-Prés bears the unmistakable mark of an iconic figure: French interior designer Bruno Borrione, who brought the space to life, inviting guests on a peaceful journey to bask in the hotel’s warm, carefully crafted interiors.
He is the mastermind behind the entire concept, from the building’s comprehensive remodelling to bespoke furniture designs. His collaboration, combined with a love for sharing — service and personalisation are core values here — promise to make Villa-des-Prés a new iconic destination in this beloved Paris district.
Art in all its forms: a fundamental principle
The hotel’s 34 guest rooms and suites and public spaces are a subtle blend of contributions by two aesthetes.
One of them is Bruno Borrione, who provided the art direction and bespoke furniture designs, surrounding himself with French artisans for the light fittings, stained glass panels, furniture, fabrics and wallpapers.
‘The mix of furniture creates a heterogeneous, home-like harmony: a desk paired with a chair that doesn’t quite match, a side table passed down to us, a long-treasured lamp…’, says Bruno Borrione.
The other is the founder of ‘Amélie Maison d’Art’, Amélie du Chalard.
With the same aspiration to celebrate the heritage of the eternal Paris — the love of arts and culture —, she assembled a collection of more than fifty paintings, all unique, custom-made free compositions by eleven contemporary French artists, to adorn the hotel’s walls.
The roster includes painter and sculptor Pilar Angeloglou, abstract artist François Bonnel, painter Pola Carmen, visual artists Florence Grundeler and Virginie Hucher, and architects and painters Vincent Lemaître and Ludovic Philippon.
Each of them has their own language, but all share one common interest: geometric abstraction, enhanced by a play of materials and colours.
‘The approach here is very similar to that of a collector, who focuses on a small number of artists and is keen to own multiple works for each. (…) Guests are surrounded by this collection, which unfolds from one room to the next’, says Amélie du Chalard.
A day at Villa-des-Prés
9 am. Breakfast time.
As guests step down into the lobby, they find themselves immersed in the hotel’s exceptional atmosphere: the soft morning light filtering through from the patio, as the Rue de Buci bustles to life behind the windows of the facade.
The alcoves and the patio beckon to guests and local residents to sit around a shared meal of beloved breakfast staples, including viennoiseries, fruitcakes, crepes, a buffet of charcuterie and cheese, homemade scrambled eggs, juices, as well as a range of gluten-free options available from the menu.
3 pm. A break at the spa.
Guests are welcome to the hotel’s wellness and peaceful space, which features an indoor 13-metre heated swimming pool, a sauna, a sensory shower and a treatment room.
Completing the experience is also a vast fitness centre, open 24/7 and entirely equipped with Technogym’s latest technology — two treadmills, an elliptical bike, a stationary bike, a rower, free weights and yoga mats.
The swimming area is open to hotel guests every day from 8 am until 10 pm.
In association with French-Californian brand Odacité, a pioneer in ‘natural’ and ‘clean’ beauty, treatments delivered by expertly trained therapists provide complete relaxation, weaving together proven results, pure compositions and sensory stimulation.
With the ‘Temple of Beauty’ signature massage (60 minutes), combining beauty techniques from Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine, enhanced by the benefits of aromatherapy, Villa-des-Prés and Odacité deliver a wellness experience that directly addresses the ills of modern life, including stress and fatigue.
Also available is the ‘Temple of Beauty’ facial (60 minutes), a deep skin treatment designed to restore natural glow, and soothe the mind and soul through the power of essential oils and the vibrations of crystals, combined with specific facial massage and Gua Sha techniques.
8 pm. Enjoying good company at the bar.
Open to all, the bar offers, in addition to classic cocktails and two mocktails, a selection of eight lip-smacking signature cocktail recipes, which include the Sixième — a nod to the hotel’s location in the sixth arrondissement —, mixed from Saint-Germain, kumquat liqueur, rosemary and champagne, and the Gourmande, a blend of Rémy Martin cognac, Amarula liqueur, vanilla espuma and dark chocolate shavings.
Tucked away at the heart of the hotel, the warm and casual setting of the bar welcomes guests and local residents throughout the day.
