Following the success of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants and The World’s 50 Best Bars, 50 Best launched The World’s 50 Best Hotels in 2023, marking the brand’s first global launch since 2009.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels list is created by The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy, an influential group of over 580 independent leaders, each selected for their expert opinion of the international hotel scene.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels event program – including the awards ceremony and unveiling of the list – provides a unique opportunity to unite hoteliers, restaurateurs, bar owners, media, business travelers and luxury travelers at a captivating celebration of hospitality, passion, and talent.

The resulting list will be the first ranking of its kind to inspire consumers to book the finest 50 properties in the world.

The award-winning HOSHINOYA Tokyo is a true sanctuary in the heart of Tokyo’s bustling financial district. Located steps from Tokyo Station and the Imperial Palace, this modern 17-story, Japanese-style inn punctuates the cityscape with its grand façade.

The HOSHINOYA Tokyo experience is truly one-of-a-kind since visitors can immerse themselves in Japan’s hot-spring bathing culture and thoughtful omotenashi – Japanese hospitality – in the city rather than traveling to mountain or oceanside regions. Guests’ senses are immediately activated as they step into the ryokan’s relaxed, intimate ambiance.

At HOSHINOYA Tokyo, guests walk barefoot across tatami-floored rooms, indulge in Japanese seasonal cuisine and soak in the top floor’s open air onsen fed by hot spring waters 1,500 meters below the ground.

Privacy is also a cornerstone to the HOSHINOYA experience since the property is only accessible to guests and a dedicated staff remains in place to maintain each request and the elegant customs honored for centuries.
