Thailand

Aleenta Retreat (Chiang Mai, Thailand) NEW OPENING APRIL 2023
A high-design hideaway in one of Chiang Mai's loveliest neighbourhoods

Reached via a tree-lined alley in Chiang Mai's Umong district, entering the new Aleenta Retreat's courtyard feels like stepping into a small Thai village square.

Around its central pool flanked by bamboo and frangipani trees, stand four antique teakwood Thai dwellings, which the hotel has revamped into a spa, a restaurant, the local crafts-selling boutique, and a family-sized villa. Inspired by the brickwork of Chiang Mai's crumbling temples, Aleenta Retreat's 44 spacious bedrooms merge traditional Thai design with a soothing palate of natural hues and sophisticated furnishings.

The Ayurah Spa, set in a teakwood-clad two-story building near the central pool, is the hotel's raison d'être. Alongside complementary daily yoga, Qi Gong, meditation and mindfulness classes, the menu consists of holistic tailor-made wellness programs. Not only are the programs enriched by healthy cuisine and wellness cooking classes, but the hotel also enables clients to work with a resident ‘master healer’, doctor, nurse and nutritionist to achieve optimum wellness and balance during their stay.
