With little more than two weeks remaining before the Oct. 26 grand opening of downtown Oklahoma City’s first upscale boutique hotel, construction crews are working around the clock to ensure a fully-functioning, top-tier facility awaits the first official guests.

“We’re in soft-opening mode right now, working out the kinks with a few trial overnight stays while we make final preparations,” said Paul Coury, Oklahoma real estate developer and president of the Coury Collection. “There is much to do before we roll out the red carpet, but we are ahead of schedule. We look forward to showing off our wares at our invitation-only kick-off celebration.”

The Colcord Hotel became Oklahoma City’s first skyscraper when it was built in 1910 by Charles Francis Colcord. Ninety-six years later, a $16 million renovation by The Coury Collection has transformed the 12-floor, 110,549 square-foot building into an upscale boutique hotel, custom tailored in classic-contemporary design for the nation’s elite business travelers.

The Colcord’s general manager, Loriann McClintock—whose work history links to famous hotels like the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Reno, Nevada, and the Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans—says the attention to detail incorporated into the revamped Colcord is impressive.

“Not a single corner was cut in the renovations and design of this building. The Colcord is Oklahoma City’s premier destination hotel,” McClintock said.

The entire building is connected to a wireless “WiFi” network, and each room has an iPod docking station and a flat-screen TV. There also is a fitness center and a first class French-continental style restaurant called Soleil. Michel and Alain Buthion of La Baguette Bistro run Soleil, which features an oyster bar and a secluded patio, as well as the ultra exclusive night club and lounge on property called XO. In the lobby, updated flight schedules and weather reports are fed to a large information screen.

The “rock star” suite, located on the top floor, can be reserved for $1200 a night and boasts the city’s best view of Myriad Gardens. With several NBA teams signing contracts for players to stay at the Colcord after playing the Hornets, many of the hotel’s California King-sized beds were custom designed by Certa to be 15 inches longer to accommodate for extra tall guests.

The Colcord Hotel, Soleil, and XO will officially open to the public on Oct. 26. Soleil will open daily, 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and XO will be open Tuesday through Saturday, 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

“The Colcord has very quietly graced the downtown skyline for many years,” Paul Coury said. “But when people see what we’ve created here, I expect they will see the red signature logo with new eyes. The Colcord will stand as a symbol of excellence and style.”
