InterContinental Hotels & Resorts named Asia and Australasia's Leading Hotel Brand with 22 World Travel Awards wins

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) celebrated today as its InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts brand clinched 22 accolades at the 2013 World Travel Awards (WTA), with 10 first-time wins and 12 repeat awards. InterContinental Hotels and Resorts was recognised as Asia’s Leading Hotel Brand for the first time at the gala ceremony in Dubai last night, and took home other notable awards for InterContinental properties in Asia, Australasia and the Pacific.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) celebrated today as its InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts brand clinched 22 accolades at the 2013 World Travel Awards (WTA), with 10 first-time wins and 12 repeat awards. InterContinental Hotels and Resorts was recognised as Asia’s Leading Hotel Brand for the first time at the gala ceremony in Dubai last night, and took home other notable awards for InterContinental properties in Asia, Australasia and the Pacific.

The world’s first truly international hotel brand, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts was also named the Leading Hotel Brand in Australasia and Leading Business Hotel Brand in Asia. In addition, six InterContinental properties were named number one in their respective countries. These include InterContinental Manila, InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort and newcomer InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, which also earned the title of Asia's Leading New Resort.

The WTA were launched in 1993 to acknowledge excellence in the traveland tourism industry and are now in their 20th year. Heralded as the ‘travel industry's equivalent to the Oscar's’ by The Wall Street Journal, the awards are decided based on votes by the public and travel professionals worldwide.
