Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced today the opening of Grand Hyatt Goa on India’s west coast. The first Hyatt hotel to be located in vibrant North Goa, Grand Hyatt Goa is a contemporary resort and spa built in the architectural style of a 17th century Indo-Portuguese palace. Located on the calm and inviting waters of Bambolim Bay, this enchanting destination resort and spa is situated just over four miles (7 km) from the capital city of Panaji and is located 20 minutes from the airport by car. Grand Hyatt Goa joins Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa, located in South Goa, in one of India’s top resort destinations.
Spread across 28 acres of lush tropical gardens and rolling, green lawns, the hotel has 314 guestrooms and suites, including a Royal Villa, seven restaurants and bars, an extensive outdoor pool complex, and an indoor swimming pool. Shamana Spa at Grand Hyatt Goa is a destination spa with 19 treatment suites offering Thai, Balinese and Indian treatments in serene and luxurious facilities spread across 34,000 sq ft (3,200 sq m). Grand in scale and design, the resort also offers the largest banquet space in Goa with state-of-the-art meeting and business facilities.
“We are pleased to introduce Grand Hyatt Goa to the destination and we are optimistic that it will soon become one of the city’s grandest addresses,” said Stefan Radstrom, general manager of Grand Hyatt Goa. “Whether we are catering to business or leisure travelers, we know that our guests will appreciate the warmth and authentic hospitality that our hotel offers. Our aim is to create memorable experiences for all of our guests so that they keep coming back.”
Guestrooms and Suites
The 314 contemporary rooms and suites offer panoramic views of Bambolim Bay and landscaped gardens. Rooms ranging between 530 and 2,700 sq ft (50 and 250 sq m) are aptly designed for a leisure guest to unwind in the comfort of a well-appointed room or to watch the sunset from an oversized balcony. The suites offer a whirlpool on the balcony overlooking the calm waters of Bambolim Bay. The resort’s Grand Club™ offers an extra touch of luxury and special privileges such as complimentary continental breakfast, all-day tea and coffee service, and evening cocktails in the Grand Club Lounge. The Lounge offers complimentary Internet access, airport transfers and use of the boardroom.
Meetings and Events Space
Grand in scale and design, Grand Hyatt Goa offers the largest banquet facilities in Goa, which are spread over 32,000 sq ft (3,000 sq m) and are perfectly suited for grand weddings, social events, conferences, and small and large meetings. The versatile function rooms are located across two floors and include the elegant Grand Ballroom decorated with imported Kaala Khata marble. The decorative molding on the ceiling border and sides of the walls and the gold leaf ceiling design are inspired by Indo-Portuguese architecture. The detailing and elegance of the pillarless Grand Ballroom (12,400 sq ft / 1,150 sq m) is palatial.
Six functions rooms are available on the ground level with a pre-function area ideally equipped to hold receptions. The lobby level also houses two meeting rooms and two board rooms. The indoor venues are supplemented with a variety of outdoor options ranging from an open terrace to a landscaped lawn to tropical gardens.
Grand Hyatt Goa is the ideal destination for individuals who wish to host a distinctive Indian wedding. The jharokha (covered terrace) is strategically located above the banquet entrance to give the bride and groom a traditional royal entrance with petals or confetti being bestowed upon them. The artistic woodwork around the jharokha is a traditional intricate design done in Burma Teak.
Grand Hyatt Goa offers a dedicated Convention Services team that facilitates a “one-stop shop” approach for meeting and convention organizers.
Restaurants and Lounges
Grand Hyatt Goa features seven food and beverage outlets that offer guests a wide selection of authentic cuisines and flavors from different parts of the world. The Dining Room, Chulha and The Verandah feature design elements that reflect the traditional warmth of a Goan residence. The interior design of each restaurant in the hotel has been custom made to reflect its culinary concept.
The Dining Room, as the name suggests, represents a more formal gathering place of the resort. As a warm, lively and casual dining venue serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, guests can enjoy dishes from the Dining Room’s five interactive buffet stations that are influenced from Thai, Indian, Italian and Middle Eastern cuisines. Guests can relish the concept of eating out of the pan, grill or oven with food cooked fresh at each of the buffet stations. Guests may utilize a semi-private dining area for special occasions or relax and enjoy the fresh air on the outdoor terraces.
Chulha is an informal, fun, Indian “home style food” restaurant and is an ideal venue for lunch or an authentic dinner in a stylish yet casual atmosphere -- for Goan residents as well as hotel guests. Dishes served at Chulha include items that are a “must try” when visiting India. Items are served in clay pots and copper pans creating a rural table setting. The service is be family-style encouraging guests to share and try different dishes off of the menu. There is indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the bay and garden area, and a private dining room is available for special occasions.
The Verandah is the signature restaurant of the hotel and offers a very contemporary, yet elegant look with a western style grill that predominantly serves fresh vegetables, meat and seafood in season with Middle Eastern and Asian influences. This restaurant features a show kitchen where diners can choose the fresh produce used in their dish from the elaborate counter displays. Guests can enjoy the views of the bay and pool areas as well as natural breezes enhancing their dining experience.
Pool Bar and Grill serves refreshing and innovative cocktails, comfort food, all-day delicious grilled dishes, light salads and home-made ice creams. Less than 175 ft (50 m) from the beach, it is designed to be the perfect place for refreshments while soaking in the free form outdoor pool. The ambience is one of serenity and beauty.
The Bay View Lounge is a meeting place for both in-house and visiting guests offering stunning views toward the bay over an infinity mirror pond. The lounge’s main features are the bay view, which is spectacular during the day or at night, and the amazing water feature, located in a central point of the grand lobby. The lounge offers a wide selection of beverages including international teas and coffee, as well as alcoholic beverages.
The Confeitaria provides a high quality experience with “home-made” authentic and unique products, and offers fresh bakeries, pastries, chocolates, and specialty coffees and teas, along with retail items. The Confeitaria is an ideal place to enjoy a snack, a light lunch or dessert, and takeaway is also available. The Confeitaria features refrigerated display counters, which showcase a rich variety of fresh sweet items. It is designed as an alternative, more casual meeting place with some of the seating surrounded by a water feature giving the guest an infinity view when they look out towards the bay.
The Capiz Bar entertains guests with its in-house DJ who will play lounge music. The large, outdoor sunken lounge is an ideal place to enjoy an evening beverage. It is named after the shells commonly found on the beach in the front of the hotel.
Spa and Wellness Facilities
Shamana Spa at Grand Hyatt Goa is set to elevate lifestyle and well-being experiences. Nestled in a separate building on the resort’s property, the spa includes treatment suites, a gym, an indoor pool, whirlpools, and wet areas with a sauna, steam and plunge pools.
“Shamana” is a Sanskrit word for balance. The essence of Shamana Spa is to create a perfect balance between “Well-being and Lifestyle” through Southeast Asian healing traditions (Bali, Thai and Indian) in a serene environment with an international range of products, some exclusively available at Shamana Spa. Lifestyle programs have been designed to assist individuals in learning and developing their natural capabilities in yoga, pilates, swimming and other activities. The spa houses 19 treatment suites that include six couples suites and two Royal suites. The Royal suites are designed as sanctuaries and offer hydrothermal facilities with a sunken bath, vitality pool and multi-sensory rain showers.
The spa also houses a 25 m indoor lap pool and a 1,300 sq ft (120 sq m) lifestyle studio designed to host group and individual sessions of yoga, pilates and aerobics. An outdoor free form swimming pool is the perfect feature for guests to be able to relax and enjoy the sea breeze and literally soak in the Goan experience.
Camp Hyatt offers kids their own vacation fun at the resort. Children aged three to 12, can participate in activities and adventures, all of which are supervised by trained counselors to ensure a safe and enriching experience.
