InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) [LON:IHG, NYSE:IHG (ADRs)], the world's largest hotel group by number of rooms, today announced plans to convert one of South Jersey’s landmark hotels to a Crowne Plaza hotel next month. With the addition of the new Crowne Plaza Cherry Hill, NJ (USA) there will be seven Crowne Plaza hotels with more than 1,500 guestrooms in the state of New Jersey.

“The addition of this property to the Crowne Plaza portfolio is significant for both guests and meeting attendees,” said Kevin Kowalski, vice president, brand management, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts. “We’re expanding into a strong market with a hotel that offers great meeting space, spacious public areas, a terrific location and an overall upscale feel.”

Located along the scenic Cooper River just six miles from downtown Philadelphia, the 14-story high-rise offers 408 guest rooms; 12 are suites. Among the highlights at the future Crowne Plaza Cherry Hill are an outdoor pool, fitness center and business center, as well as wireless and wired high speed Internet access in the hotel’s lobby, meeting space and guestrooms.

"I'm delighted about the fact we are introducing the Crowne Plaza experience to South Jersey, “said Jordan Cooper, the hotel’s general manager. “We look forward to offering our guests new enhancements to the property and exceptional levels of customer service, as well as offerings such as the Crowne Plaza Sleep Advantage and soon to be introduced Crowne Plaza Bath Experience.”

The $5 million renovation will lend itself to enhancements throughout the property including renovations and improvements to the building exterior, meeting space, lobby, restaurant, bar and guest bathrooms.

The soon-to-be Crowne Plaza Cherry Hill features Cooper’s Bar & Bistro, offering American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Signature dishes such as Macadamia Encrusted Chilean Sea Bass and Slow Roasted Long Island duckling will be featured.

Once converted to a Crowne Plaza hotel, the newly introduced Crowne Plaza Sleep Advantage will be featured in all guestrooms. The Sleep Advantage, which is available at all Crowne Plaza hotels in the Americas region encompasses the entire sleep experience, from training staff on how to create and maintain a restful environment to providing innovative products and services. Program components include new bedding, guaranteed wake-up calls, designated quiet zones, night lights, drape clips, sleep CDs, sleep tips and amenities such as eye masks, ear plugs and lavender spray.

Consistent with the Crowne Plaza brand, the hotel will offer a comprehensive meetings package to ensure a seamless planning process and exceptional meeting experience consisting of three key components: a Two-Hour Response Guarantee, Crowne Meetings Director and a Meetings Daily Debrief. With 43,000-sq. ft. of meeting space including two ballrooms plus 20 additional meeting rooms, the largest in the area, the Crowne Plaza Cherry Hill will provide the perfect venue for business meetings and social functions.

Opened as the Hyatt Regency in 1975 and later converted to a Hilton, this landmark hotel is conveniently located at Route 70 and Cuthbert Boulevard near the N.J. Turnpike and I-295, just minutes from Camden Aquarium and Tweeter Entertainment Center. Lincoln Financial Field and Citizens Bank Park are also a short drive from the hotel.
