Scott Candland, vice president of operations for Outrigger Enterprises' Condominium/Timeshare Division, has announced the appointment of Robert T. Berges to the post of General Manager of the Kona Hawaiian Village, a Fairfield Hawaii vacation ownership property on Hawaii's Big Island that is managed by Outrigger Hotels & Resorts.

Berges, whose expertise in hospitality, resort management and sales spans nearly 15 years, is responsible for the day to day operation of the property, which includes oversight of the front desk, maintenance and housekeeping departments. Owner relations are also an integral part of his daily duties.

Prior to joining the Kona Hawaiian Village, Berges was general manager at the Paniolo Greens at Waikoloa Village, a Shells Vacation Club property located along the fairways of the Waikoloa Beach Resorts' North golf course.

Before moving to Hawaii, Berges was with Marriott Hotels where he managed several of the company's Residence Inns and Courtyard by Marriott properties in the Stockton and Anaheim areas of California.

Fairfield Hawaii at Kona Hawaiian Resort is an island-themed property designed in the style of an 1880's Hawaiian village. Palm thatched roofs, rustic bungalows and paths lie amidst flower and fruit bearing trees, palms and tropical vegetation. On site amenities include two outdoor pools with Jacuzzi, a health and fitness center and barbeque stations scattered throughout the property. It is an easy walk or drive from the property to nearby Kailua-Kona town.

Fairfield Resorts is the world's largest vacation ownership company with more than 500,000 owner families. In 2002, Outrigger and Fairfield entered into a strategic alliance whereby Outrigger provides on-site resort management services at all Fairfield properties operating in Hawaii while Fairfield Resorts handles all vacation ownership sales and marketing functions. In addition to the Kona Hawaiian Village, Outrigger currently manages Fairfield's Mauna Loa Village and Royal Sea Cliff Resorts on the island of Hawaii and the soon-to-open Fairfield Resort at Waikiki Beach Walk on Oahu.
