. . . The New Service Adds Even More Appeal To The Resort’s “Champions Golf Package”
The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village, located in the lush 6,300-acre World Golf Village in Northeast Florida, is now offering complimentary transportation to and from historic downtown St. Augustine for its guests. This new service enables guests to easily visit such sites in St. Augustine, which was founded in 1565, as the historic Castillo de San Marcos fortress, The Fountain of Youth, and the popular shopping on the charming, brick-paved St. George Street. Additional options in downtown St. Augustine include the Old Town Trolley Tour, The Old Jail, The St. Augustine History Museum, The Spanish Quarter, The Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, Carriage Rides, Whetstone’s Chocolate Factory, Lightner Museum, Flagler College, and a Scenic Cruise.
This new complimentary transportation service also adds to the appeal of the “Champions Golf Package” that is now being offered at the recently-renovated resort. The package enables you to play golf on both of the resort’s championship golf courses which were designed by masters of the game. The package includes: accommodations for two nights in a newly-remodeled guest room; one round of golf on the popular “Slammer & Squire,” which is located just steps from The Renaissance Resort and is named for Hall of Fame members Slammin’ Sam Snead and Gene “The Squire” Sarazen, who served as design consultants to the course’s architect Bobby Weed; one round of golf on the renowned “King & Bear,” the only course in the world co-designed by Arnold “The King” Palmer and Jack “The Bear” Nicklaus; breakfast daily in the resort’s 500 South restaurant; and range balls daily.
Based on two golfers in the room, the “Champions Golf Package” is from $279.99 per room, per night through October 16, 2011. Based on one golfer, the package is from $199.99 per room, per night through October 16, 2011. Reference promotional code ZJ3 when booking the package for two golfers, or promotional code G4Y when booking the package for one golfer. Tax is additional, and the offer cannot be combined with any other promotions, and does not apply to groups of 10 or more rooms. The offer is based on space availability, and a limited number of rooms are available for this promotion. Blackout dates may apply. Advanced reservations are required, and other restrictions may apply.
Taking advantage of the package will enable you to play on King & Bear, a picturesque 7,279-yard course that features loblolly pines and open meadows on the front nine, and impressive 200-year-old oak trees throughout the back nine. The signature features of the course include its placid lakes edged with large coquina rocks, and the striking incorporation of rock into several bunkers and cart paths.
It also will enable you to play Slammer & Squire, a par 72 tree-lined course which features gentle rolling fairways and challenging lakes. The course is distinguished by memorable par 3’s, as well as for its preservation of the woodlands, wetlands and natural beauty of St. Augustine.
Of additional appeal to golfers is that resort guests have access to four additional golf courses within 15 minutes of the resort, for a total of 108 holes of golf.
The Renaissance Resort is also located an easy walk to The World Golf Hall of Fame, the ultimate destination for the celebration of golf’s greatest players, with fun interactive exhibits, and historic golf artifacts. Guests also can easily stroll to the World Golf Hall of Fame’s 18-hole real grass putting course, a 132-yard Island Challenge Hole, an IMAX® 3D Theater, and the Walk of Champions. In addition, guests can take golf lessons at the renowned PGA TOUR Golf Academy.
“We’re providing the complimentary transportation to downtown St. Augustine to our guests to make it easier for them to enjoy the many, many offerings of the area,” said Scott Selvaggi, the resort’s director of sales & marketing. “It also provides a great option if one in the family wishes to golf, and then the others can easily visit downtown St. Augustine.”
Named one of the “Top 80 Golf Resorts” in the world in a readers’ poll in Condé Nast Traveler magazine, the resort completed an impressive $10 million property-wide renovation in 2008. The project included the complete remodeling of all 301 guest rooms and suites, dramatic changes to the lobby atrium and entry area, remodeling of all guest room corridors, an expanded fitness center, enhancements to the meeting space and business center, and the opening of 500 South.
Guest rooms and suites feature new furniture, soft goods, window treatments, lighting, 37” flat-panel screen LCD HDTV televisions, and the Marriott JackPack, which provides complete connectivity to the guests for laptops, MP3 players, digital cameras, and video game players. The rooms and suites feature a contemporary design with an Asian feel, which includes rich red bed coverings, crisp white linens, along with a color scheme of warm neutral gold. In-room offerings also include high-speed Internet access, two telephones with data ports, a wet bar and refrigerator, an in-room safe, and in-room coffee. Additional offerings at the resort include a sauna, pool, hot tub, and full-service concierge.
In addition to the on-site offerings, the resort is conveniently located just minutes from pristine Atlantic beaches, to fun eco-tours and chartered fishing trips, and to exceptional shopping at two large outlet malls.
