Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, has been voted "Top International Hotel Brand in China" in the third annual 21st Century Business Herald's "China Hotel Golden Pillow Awards." In addition, Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai and Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong were both ranked in the Top 10 Business Hotels, and Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong named the Best Regional Hotel in the Pearl River Delta Region.
Shangri-La also scooped nearly one-third of awards in the new category of "Top 10 Best Business Restaurants" due to the excellence and popularity of Shang Palace at the Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing; Aria at China World Hotel, Beijing; and Jade On 36 Restaurant and Bar at Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai.
In another new category, "Best Hotel General Managers in Greater China," Philippe Caretti, general manager of Pudong Shangri-La, topped the list.
The Golden Pillow Awards, instituted in 2004 by the Herald, one of China's leading business newspapers, ranks the best hotel chains and individual hotels/resorts and restaurants in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. Categories include brand awareness, brand-satisfaction rates, service, products, development potential, and corporate citizenship responsibility.
Award winners were determined by industry experts, media leaders, selected frequent business travellers and guests who were polled by leading China websites and a special media survey.
