New Website Marketing Campaigns Win 2006 Internet Advertising Competition Awards

The Web Marketing Association recently named Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) among the winners of its 2006 Internet Advertising Competition (IAC). The IAC honors excellence in online advertising and the best of Internet marketing.
A panel of eight judges reviewed each online marketing campaign and scored it against seven criteria to select the winning entries in each industry: creativity, innovation, design, copywriting, use of medium, memorability and impact. Marriott won first place in two categories within the Hotel and Lodging industry: Best Online Newsletter and Best Online Campaign. Marriott also won a runner-up prize for Outstanding Microsite/Landing Page, and collaborated with advertising agency T3 to take the top prize in this category.

This online e-newsletter promotes special Thursday-to-Sunday discounts to employees of Marriott’s corporate customers who can access the newsletter from their company’s intranet. Each issue features current news, photographs and a flash movie based on the theme of weekend travel.
Best Hotel and Lodging Online Campaign

This online campaign promoted Marriott’s hotels and family vacation options for Summer 2005. This online campaign, titled “Are we there yet?” promoted Marriott’s hotels and family vacation options. The campaign ran simultaneously on Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, Hotels.com and CheapTickets.com.

This site promoted 2005 winter/holiday promotions worldwide and captured the excitement of the winter season from October through January. The site was culturally sensitive and emotionally compelling.
Additionally, advertising agency T3 won Best Hotel and Lodging Microsite/Landing page for their creation of Experience Marriott, www.ExperienceMarriott.com. Marriott International collaborated with T3 to develop an interactive website highlighting features of the new Marriott Hotels & Resorts guestrooms. The microsite reveals Marriott Hotels and Resorts newly reengineered and redefined room design. Visitors can interact with almost every feature in the room through a combination of Flash animation, video, music, voice, photography and design. As guests move about and virtually explore the room, they can ultimately envision and anticipate their future Marriott stay.
