Earns "100 Best Companies To Work For" Honors Since 1998
FORTUNE magazine recognized Marriott International as an "All Star," one of 13 companies to earn "100 Best Companies To Work For" honors since 1998. Marriott, the only U.S.-based lodging company named and one of three headquartered in Maryland, is ranked 82nd and one of only four companies listed with more than 100,000 employees.
"Delivering an employment experience that is responsive to the cultural differences and unique needs of a workforce that spans 68 countries and 50 languages can be challenging, but rewarding," said David Rodriguez, executive vice president, global human resources, Marriott International. "It's our 13th consecutive year on the list and each year, we're thrilled. It's a testament to our commitment to deliver the career opportunities, programs, and benefits that our employees value."
FORTUNE Deputy Managing Editor Hank Gilman says, "The most important considerations for this year's list were hiring and the ways in which companies are helping their employees weather the recession. All 100 companies on our list are currently hiring, many of them aggressively, leading to more than 96,000 open job positions expected in the next year."
Marriott was also recognized for its diversity and inclusiveness. FORTUNE acknowledged Marriott's diverse workforce - more than 60 percent minority and 55 percent women - noting that Marriott's Chairman and CEO J.W. "Bill" Marriott, Jr.'s annual letter to employees was translated in 28 languages.
Marriott has been recognized as a great place to work by several prominent publications including BusinessWeek, Working Mother and DiversityInc magazines.
