Jumeirah’s culinary team has swept the board at this year’s Hotelympia, collecting a total of eleven awards during the Le Salon Culinaire International de Londres showcase at the annual foodservice and hospitality exhibition at London’s ExCel from 19-23 February 2006.
The Dubai based international luxury hospitality group sent a team of chefs from across its renowned portfolio including Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Jumeirah Beach Club Resort and Spa and the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in London, to participate in a series of individual and team challenges.
Amongst the accolades received were six gold awards including the prestigious Special Gold award for Overall best Team, which was awarded to Madinat Jumeirah’s Holger Jackisch and Burj Al Arab’s Scoot Stokes. Other awards included:
• Dale Ormston, Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel - Gold, Best in Class in the Senior Fish category
• Holger Jackisch, Madinat Jumeirah & Scoot Stokes, Burj Al Arab – Gold, Best in Class in the World Cup Challenge Team Event
• Juraj Kanla, Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel – Gold, Best in Class in the Senior Lamb category, Gold in the Steelite Competition, Certificate of Merit & Gold Hygiene Award on the Senior Fish category
• Paulo Veronese, Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel – Gold in the Traditional Pasta category
• Arno Engelbrecht, Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel – Silver in the Senior Lamb category
• Robbie Stokes, Burj Al Arab & Tobias Pfister, Burj Al Arab – Bronze in the Master Chefs Grand Prix
• Danny Lewis, Jumeirah Beach Club Resort & Spa - Certificate of Merit & Hygiene award in the Classic Fish category
