January 2006 saw the opening of a new luxury resort in Taba, on the Red Sea coast in Egypt. The comfortable, family-friendly holiday oasis has 434 rooms and provides the ideal setting for a relaxing holiday, whatever the time of year. The 5-star hotel is part of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ (MH&R) expansion strategy and adds to its already considerable Middle East portfolio.

Only 30 km from Taba International Airport, the new holiday complex is situated directly on Taba Bay, which is currently making a name for itself as the new paradise along Egypt’s Riviera. Located in north-eastern Egypt, Taba boasts spectacular views of the Gulf of Aqaba, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, blending with the unique backdrop of the Sinai with its barren mountains and impressive desert scenery.

The Mövenpick Resort Taba has 434 rooms, suites and family bungalows, all with fantastic views of the sea or mountains. All accommodation offers the very latest amenities. The entire resort is wheelchair accessible, with rooms specially equipped for the physically challenged.

The Mövenpick Resort Taba serves a wide range of culinary specialities, designed to satisfy even the most discerning gourmets. Beside the international buffets in the main restaurant there are also a Chinese, an Oriental and a Seafood Speciality Restaurant as well as a pool restaurant and poolside bars.

The Hotel has its own 400 m private beach, two outdoor pools and a heated indoor pool as well as three wading pools. Other amenities to be available to guests by the end of 2006 include a casino, a spa and leisure area, a modern fitness centre, a water sports and diving centre under professional management, three tennis courts, a volleyball court and a children’s club. An 18-hole golf course is also due to open soon some 20 km from the resort. The two conference rooms with seating for up to 200 participants are complemented by a business centre, ideal for banquets and business meetings.

Johnny Mathis, General Manager of the Mövenpick Resort Taba, is particularly enthusiastic about the new holiday oasis by the Red Sea: “Our Resort is ideal for a relaxing family holiday at any time of the year. Taba is the gateway to the desert and a paradise for water-sports enthusiasts; what’s more we also have an outstanding infrastructure to offer our guests.”

“Taba is one of the very latest tourist developments on the Red Sea”, explains Andreas Mattmüller, Senior Vice President Middle East MH&R. “We’re proud to be among the pioneers in Taba and now look forward to welcoming our first guests and treating them to genuine Swiss hospitality.”

The Mövenpick Resort Taba is already the 13th hotel of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Egypt (incl. the three Nile cruise ships), at seven different destinations.
