Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc (NYSE: HOT) and Kingkey Group announced an agreement for Starwood to manage the Sheraton Dameisha Resort in Shenzhen, China. Scheduled to open in early 2008, the newly built Sheraton Dameisha Resort will be Starwood's third hotel in Shenzhen, joining its newly-opened sister property, Four Points by Sheraton Schenzen and the Sheraton Schenzen Hotel which is currently under development.

Shenzhen is situated in the southern coastal area of Guangdong province, 160 kilometers away from Guangzhou and 35 kilometers from Hong Kong and attracts visitors with its unique theme parks (Splendid China, China Folk Cultural Villages, Window of the World and Happy Valley) and varied carnivals and activities. In 2003 alone, more than half the international travelers to mainland China entered or departed through Shenzhen. In addition to its appeal as a leisure destination, Shenzhen is also a major industrial and export base for China. As China's key international trading port, it is accessible by ocean freighters and houses eight commercial port areas.

"We are honored to partner with Kingkey Group to open our third hotel in Shenzhen, China" said Miguel Ko, President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Asia Pacific. "The Sheraton Dameisha Resort marks a significant addition to Starwood's presence in Shenzen, the southern gateway to mainland China. We believe that with the opening of this fabulous resort, visitors will have another great leisure destination in southern China."

The Sheraton Dameisha Resort will feature 402 rooms, more than 16,000 square feet of meeting space, three food and beverage outlets, a health club and spa, an indoor swimming pool and retail shops. The resort will be located at Dameisha Beach in eastern Shenzhen, which is regarded as one of the top 10 scenic destinations in the region.. The Sheraton Dameisha Resort will be the first five-star hotel located in the Dameisha Beach resort area, which is popular among the local Shenzhen population and tourists from other parts of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts expanded its portfolio in China significantly in 2005, with 18 hotels under development, from Xiamen to Beijing. The hotel group now operates 24 hotels in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. With more than 400 hotels and resorts in over 70 countries, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is Starwood's largest and most global brand.
