InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (IHG) today announces the appointment of Tom Conophy to the newly-created position of Chief Information Officer (CIO). Tom, who will report directly to CEO Andrew Cosslett and take a seat on the Group Executive Committee, will start in his position in mid February.
Tom, 45, joins from Starwood Hotels & Resorts International, where he held the position of Executive Vice President & Chief Technology Officer. Previous to Starwood, Tom was Senior Vice President for Strategic Architecture for Sabre Inc and has held senior technology management posts at Galileo International, United Airlines and Century Analysis Inc.
Andrew Cosslett, CEO, InterContinental Hotels Group, said: "Tom has extensive experience in developing new technology solutions within the travel and hospitality industry, coupled with a dynamic and strategic outlook. This is an exciting new role and I am delighted to welcome Tom to the company."

A 25 year veteran of the IT industry, Tom is well connected within the technology world and is known as an innovator and thought leader. He serves on the board of advisors for Intel. Tom is married with three daughters.
