Designed to sate virtually any palate or lifestyle, Crystal Cruises’ Baltic, Mediterranean and Northern Europe excursions for 2009 run the culinary gamut. An expanded selection of savory options includes cooking lessons of regional specialties in Portugal and Monte Carlo, private wine tastings in Italy, and tapas tasting in Spain. Europe itineraries of seven to 14 days are available from May to November.
Brand new Crystal Adventures incorporating culinary activities include:
* Exclusive chateau dinner with a family active for centuries in the Bordeaux wine trade,
* Wine tasting with four-course lunch at Sorrento farmhouse, and
* Cooking lesson and lunch at Lisbon's Albatroz Palace boutique hotel.
Crystal Adventures also include, by special arrangement, a lunch at France's Chateau Mouton Rothschild; an excursion to Medoc Chateau and lunch at Relais Château Saint-James' chef's table; a visit to an Andalusian olive mill for a paella-making lesson; an outing to Ston, Croatia, to sample wine and its famous oysters; and a Norwegian crabbing expedition whereby guests can sample their catches.
“Europe is a veritable playground for food lovers,” said John Stoll, director, land programs.
“Complementing incomparable cuisine for on board are Crystal culinary Adventures, which enable guests to sample authentic cuisines of the different regions of Europe.”
On board, impeccable cuisine is served in a number of elegant venues, including specialty restaurants featuring the signature dishes of master chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Piero Selvaggio. Vintage Room experiences showcase Crystal’s impressive wine cellar. Wine & Food itineraries feature top guest chefs, wine experts and mixologists for demonstrations, tastings and classes.
Crystal’s Europe Celebration Fares offer up to $1,500 per person savings on most cruises. Cruise fares for the voyages start at $3,535 per person, double occupancy, and with most European itineraries, an All Inclusive – As You Wish promotion provides a $2,000 per couple shipboard credit to fully customize one’s cruise experience. Additionally, the much-appreciated Crystal Assurance Plan offers reduced deposits and cancellation periods, as well as the assurance that guests will be protected at the reduced fare if a stateroom category is later reduced.
