InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) [LON: IHG, NYSE: IHG (ADRs)], the world’s largest hotel group by number of rooms, has named Brian A. Winston Director of Sales & Marketing for the new InterContinental Boston.
As Director of Sales & Marketing, InterContinental Boston, Mr. Winston will establish and direct the new InterContinental Boston’s pre-opening sales & marketing efforts – which is currently under construction and will open in the fall 2006. A 23-year veteran in the hospitality industry, Winston most recently comes from the InterContinental Chicago where he served as Director of Sales & Marketing there since 2002. Prior to that, Winston served as Area Director of Sales & Marketing for Hilton Hotels in New York City and Director of Sales & Marketing for the Hilton New York since 1998. Winston was Director of Marketing for the Westin Copley Place Boston from 1991 – 1994.

His extensive luxury hotel sales & marketing field experience and proven success - in the major markets of Boston, New York, Washington DC, Chicago & San Francisco will be instrumental in successfully launching the InterContinental brand in the city of Boston,” said Tim Kirwan, general manager, InterContinental Boston. “We’re delighted that Brian has accepted this vital sales & marketing brand assignment for our company – which brings him back to his native land of Massachusetts”.
The InterContinental Boston is located on the Boston Harbor in the heart of the city’s financial district and just ten minutes from Logan International Airport. The 424-room hotel will be the first InterContinental hotel in Boston and will offer a spa and health club with indoor pool, signature restaurant, multiple cocktail venues and 32,000 sq. ft. of meeting/function space, including the largest ballroom in the downtown Boston market.
The InterContinental Boston will be part of Extell Boston Harbor LLC’s new building at 500 Atlantic Avenue, which also will include 130 luxury condominiums known as The Residences at the InterContinental.
