Hotel Shelley Undergoes Lavish $1.5 Million Renovation; One of the First Standing Hotels in Miami Beach, Hotel Shelley Continues its Art Deco Roots and Redefines Style. Miami Beach's Hotel Shelley, one of the first hotels built in Miami Beach is redefining Art Deco. The architecturally sound boutique hotel built in 1931 in the heart of the Art Deco district in Miami Beach has reinvented itself this winter with a complete 1.5 million dollar renovation of its 49 guestrooms. In time for the New Year, Hotel Shelley will be celebrating its new digs in style along with HBO's Jeremy Piven and his entourage who frequent Hotel Shelley since the completion of the renovations. "The Hotel Shelley is dedicated to supplying guests with the latest trends and lavish accoutrements for a complete hotel experience," reports Stephanie Balazs, Managing Partner of South Beach Group Hotels. "The all encompassing make-over allows the Shelley to keep its laid back beach atmosphere, while maintaining a cutting edge style." The renovations comprise of TEAK flooring, Mascioni Italian 350-thread count sheets, goose down comforters and pillows, Sharp 20" LCD plasma TV's, Sharp surround sound CD stereo systems and specially made luxurious beds and custom built cabinetry. The original window treatments have been replaced with sheer white draperies and custom-designed white-on-white reflective wall coverings, which block out the bright south Florida sun when closed and allow natural light to flourish when opened. Assortments of purple hues were used with an Art Deco inspired paint scheme bringing out the plush surroundings and creating open, airy spaces. Over the course of the renovations, the standard complimentary amenities of all South Beach Group Hotels has remained, including complimentary cocktails during happy hour; daily continental breakfast; airport shuttles to and from Miami International Airport; and VIP club passes for the most popular nightclubs in South Beach.
