December 9, 2005 - Crestline Hotels & Resorts, Inc. announces the recent completion of the major phases of a $5+ million renovation to the Marriott Plaza San Antonio. The extensive renovation and refurbishment of this landmark hotel includes all 251 guest rooms and suites, as well as the lobby, public spaces, restaurant and bar. Highland Hospitality Corporation owns the hotel and Crestline Hotels & Resorts manages the property, which, with its six acres of lawns and courtyards, is a favorite destination for business and leisure travelers.
"The Marriott Plaza San Antonio is a premiere hotel located within two blocks of San Antonio’s famed River Walk," said Brett Ellison, general manager. "As one of the finest hotels in this popular destination, we believe it is important to celebrate and respect the local culture and style of the area. The refurbished hotel retains its Spanish/Mediterranean flair, but does it with a unique South Texas twist incorporating bright colors such as red, gold, and orange. These are the colors that are found in the plumage of the Chinese pheasants and peacocks that grace the hotel’s lawns," added Ellison.
Guests are welcomed into a totally refurbished Lobby that is bright and airy with comfortable lounge seating inviting conversation and networking. In addition, there is a dual fireplace, ottomans, and two flat-screened TVs for guests’ enjoyment. In the Anaqua Restaurant, guests will enjoy oversized stuffed chairs which look out upon the hotel’s lush courtyard which is home to the famed peacocks and pheasants. Restaurant service is enhanced with new china, cutlery, and a state-of-the-art buffet-area providing exceptional presentation and food freshness.
Each guest room and suite was completely redesigned and renovated to meet the preferences of today’s business and leisure guests who prefer a more residential look and feel for accommodations. All rooms are redecorated with new furniture, comfortable seating to include an ergonomic chair at the spacious desks, all new artwork and lighting that can be adjusted for work or relaxation. In addition, the hotel has incorporated Marriott’s new standard for bedding which includes white-on-white plush bedding, 300-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, down comforters nestled inside sheeted duvets, six down pillows including euroshams, and a colorful bed scarf. The duvet covers are freshly laundered for each new guest. Each guest bathroom was completely refurbished with new granite countertops, wall décor, a bowed shower curtain and new shelving for towels and personal toiletries.
