After more than 176,000 industry professionals from all over the world had voted in the 12th World Travel Awards, it was revealed that the Hilton Helsinki Strand had won the 'Finland's Leading Hotel' category.
Tomi Peitsalo, General Manager at the Hilton Helsinki Strand, is both pleased and surprised at the award: "There have been many competitive new hotels in Finland in recent years, so it's nice to know we've performed so well in the face of such competition. It is now three years since Hilton took over the hotel, and we are continuously striving to make life easier for business travellers our primary target group. We are extremely grateful to have won this distinction, which firmly underlines our success."
The voting process took place in more than 200 countries between May and September this year, and led to 80 winners in all. Winners were selected in different categories in eight geographical groups: Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Central & Latin America, Europe, Middle East, North America and South America.
The splendid award ceremony was held at London's Royal Opera House in November.
