Six Shangri-La luxury hotels were voted among the best in the world by readers of Condé Nast Traveler. In the magazine's 2005 Readers' Choice awards, two properties - Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok and Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong - were included in "The Best of the Best," which lists the top 100 travel experiences. These two and Shangri-La hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Taipei were included in the "Top 50 Asia Hotels." Shangri-La's Mactan Island Resort and Spa in Cebu, Philippines, was named one of the "Top 15 Asia Resorts."

Readers were asked to rate hotels according to various criteria such as service, rooms, design, dining and location. From the 27,957 responses received, the publication calculated the overall satisfaction percentages.
