Kempinski is delighted to announce that a management agreement has been signed on 23 September 2005, with Skiper Hoteli, a Croatian tourism company, to manage an exclusive seaside resort in Croatia. Kempinski is confident that its first venture in Croatia will be successful, as the country is already experiencing growth in incoming tourism and business travel.
Construction on this luxury development is due to start shortly and the hotel will open in early 2008. The Kempinski Hotel Istria will be built in Alberi, on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, above the region of Istria. The region surrounding Alberi is distinguished by untouched landscapes and a stunning natural beauty.
The whole resort is set on a gentle slope ending in a cliff overlooking the Bay of Trieste and neighbouring Slovenia, with 31 exclusive villas nearest to the sea. Set behind the villas will be the spacious grounds of the five star luxury hotel, which will be managed by Kempinski, and an 18-hole golf course. The resort will also offer guests the possibility to moor their yachts in the 38-berth private marina.
The hotel will have 76 rooms and 35 suites, designed in a contemporary style, as well as a number of elegant restaurants and bars. Plans are also underway to create an extensive 3000 m2 spa area including indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a convention centre capable of accommodating up to 200 guests. The hotel will be able to organise the best tee times on the golf course as well as water sports and walking tours in the region.
Three airports (Trieste in Italy, Ljubljana in Slovenia and Pula in Croatia) are all under an hours’ drive away and a small international airport suitable for private jets is only 10 minutes away in Portorož, Slovenia. The hotel is sure to delight both golf enthusiasts and leisure travellers with its ease of access and the variety of activities available.
