Area Girl Scouts will get an up-close look at the hotel industry when they participate in “Hospitality Hot Shots” career day from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 2nd, at Marriott’s Residence Inn Arlington Pentagon City, 550 Army Navy Drive in Arlington, Va.
Sponsored by Marriott International and the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital, the event will lead to a Marriott/GSCNC “Hospitality Hot Shots” participation patch after girls rotate through activity stations and enjoy fun, hands-on tasks like designing posters to highlight a hotel property’s biggest attraction, planning events, setting financial goals and making a couple of tasty dishes. They will learn about the roles of general manager, executive chef, sales and marketing, finance, and event managers from women with these careers at Marriott's corporate and hotel operations.
The program includes a community service project; Marriott employees and the Girl Scouts will assemble breakfast bags for the Arlington Food Assistance Center and make placemats for patients at the Children’s Inn at National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Md.
