Cap Karoso, a multi-award-winning resort (Ahead Award Best Hotel in Asia, Travel + Leisure It List, Condé Nast Traveler Gold List, Tatler Asia The Best 100), is looking for an exceptional Sommelier to join its team for a 6-month position. Located on the idyllic island of Sumba, just a 1-hour flight from Bali, the resort boasts 47 rooms, 20 villas, 3 restaurants, 2 bars, and a 3-hectare organic farm.
Cap Karoso prides itself on offering a visionary gastronomic experience, with approximately 15 guest chefs in residence annually, and an emphasis on pairing food with exceptional wines. The Sommelier will play a key role in curating and enhancing the resort’s wine and beverage offerings.
Profile:
- Passionate about wine and beverages, with an in-depth knowledge of global wine regions and trends, particularly Australian, New Zealand, and American wines.
- Experienced in pairing wine and beverages with high-end cuisine.
- Previous experience in fine dining, hospitality, or luxury resorts.
- Organized, personable, and eager to provide outstanding guest experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the wine program at Julang, our exclusive guest chef table, during evening service.
- Curate and manage the resort’s wine list, ensuring a diverse selection of high-quality offerings.
- Collaborate with chefs and guest chefs to create exceptional wine pairings for menus and events.
- Train and mentor the front-of-house team on wine knowledge and service.
- Organize wine tastings and events for guests, including exclusive experiences such as beachfront wine tastings or farm-style dinners.
- Manage stock levels and work with suppliers to ensure the seamless availability of premium wines and beverages.
Additional Information:
- Position available starting April for a 6-month period.
- A good level of English is required.
