The new leader of The Peninsula Hotels is well known in the world of luxury retail. A graduate of the ESSEC business school, he has over 30 years' experience in the industry, notably with the Richemont and LVMH groups.

After working for the Richemont group, at Cartier and then Van Cleef & Arpels, where he headed up the Asia Pacific region, he joined the LVMH group as President Asia of Sephora, and then as CEO of DFS Group Limited, one of the world leaders in luxury retail dedicated to travellers.

Mr Kwok, who will step down as CEO in October 2024, will remain a member of the Board of Directors until the Annual General Meeting in 2025. In the meantime, Christobelle Yi Ching Liao will be appointed interim CEO.

Benjamin Vuchot expressed his enthusiasm at the appointment:The Peninsula Hotels is a storied brand that embodies elegance and refinement. Building on this legacy and long-term vision, I look forward to working alongside the exceptional team to imagine and deliver the future of luxury hospitality that is both sustainable and responsive to our times, whilst upholding the values that have steered the group’s success and legacy."

His expertise in the luxury industry and in solid, sustainable groups such as Richemont and LVMH is fully in line with the trajectory and DNA of The Peninsula, which was created 150 years ago, and whose 12 hotels illustrate the demand for excellence and sustainability.
