Yet inside the building, located in the heart of the Marais district, warm sunshine is beaming down on the breakfast room, where a lucky few, including the Journal des Palaces, have been invited. This is where the new nugget of Mauritius, the Legend Hill Resort & Spa, is presented.
The resort, the work of developer MJ développement Groupe, is operated by Phoenix Hotel Collection. The company, run by native Mauritian Thierry Naidu, also operates Le Château de la Chèvre d'Or in Èze and the Bella Vista Hotel & Spa in Portimao, Portugal. The Mauritian has appointed his daughter, Eva, to manage the new property, nestling at the top of the Tourelle mountain and offering a panoramic view over the famous bay of Le Morne, renowned for its breathtaking sunsets.
In this unique setting, perfectly integrated into the landscape, 27 rooms and suites ranging in size from 44 to 123 sqm, 16 flats of 209 sqm, four penthouses of 443 sqm with private pools, and 23 independent villas ranging in size from 455 to 634 sqm, also with private pools, have been created. When Legend Hill Resort & Spa opens in February 2025, these accommodation options will be complemented by “à la carte” services, such as the possibility of hiring a chef in the flats and villas for an exclusive gastronomic experience.
Key amenities include an elegant and intimate lounge bar where guests can watch the sunset with a tasty cocktail in hand, a bistronomic restaurant overlooking the ocean in the spirit of a beach club, and 1812, a gourmet restaurant in an exceptional setting, with a menu designed by three-star chef Glenn Viel, will welcome gourmets.
“I love meeting people and I want to embody in my cooking the human character of this place, which was originally a family adventure. That's why we are in the process of meeting local people to discover, alongside them, the Mauritian products that will enable us to offer honest cuisine,”he said at this intimate presentation.
A fitness club with a coach and a spa complete the offer of this unique place. The spa will be branded Cinq Mondes, and the therapists will be offering treatments based on various beauty rituals from around the world, as well as signature treatments using local products.
A soft opening of this enchanting place will take place at Christmas before opening in February.
