With its ability to adapt to specific requests and its ability to come up with new ideas, the Club has made a name for itself in the MICE world.
Marc Lauret, Head of Sales Trade (B2B) and Meetings & Events for the UK, Ireland & Nordics region, spoke to us during the IMEX Frankfurt about Club Med's MICE assets.
Unique and personalized incentives
Club Med stands out for its mountain and beach incentive experiences. For groups wishing to enjoy the mountains, “the ski in ski out resorts with ski lift passes included and partnerships with French, Swiss, or Italian ski schools” offer an incomparable team-building experience, says Marc Lauret.
With a capacity to accommodate groups in Meetings or Incentive format ranging from “10 to 6,000 people”, the clubs can be transformed to suit events, or even privatized. Marc Lauret mentions a recent summer privatization for a car launch, bringing together a total of 6,000 participants. “For six weeks, 240 people came every day for an overnight stay, to attend conventions and take part in test drive sessions.”
In Punta Cana, a group of 1,700 sales staff, rewarded for their annual performance, enjoyed a week's incentive. Club Med destinations offer the perfect combination of work and leisure, enabling companies to bring together, motivate and reward their teams, guests, or partners in an exclusive way.
Venues that adapt to MICE needs
Club Med sites are perfectly equipped for MICE. Like Club Med Opio in Provence, near Nice, which has 31 meeting rooms, including a 600 m² meeting room that can accommodate plenary sessions. “We also have Marbella, a smaller flagship that we opened in 2022, where we have 17 meeting rooms, with a 900m² ballroom,” explains Marc Lauret. This site boasts sports facilities, where you can combine work and entertainment with activities such as flying trapeze, archery and, above all, padel, since this trendy sport was born in Marbella. “It's very sporty, which means you can enjoy the facilities after a meeting”.
A club that offers exceptional flexibility for organizing unconventional events. For example, a start-up that specializes in bitcoin wanted to hold its meetings in the open air in several areas chosen from the 14 hectares of land available, to offer a different experience from traditional meeting formats.
A flexible and innovative approach
Club Med is based on the worktainment philosophy of “do business and let go”. To achieve this, the Club has chosen to offer a wide range of options and adopt a flexible approach. Personalization is at the heart of the offer. “We strive to be a source of ideas. Companies often have a classic format in mind, with tables in a U-shape… we suggest they break out of this pattern, offering different venues, before they can meet in plenary session”, describes Marc Lauret.
Privatizations are one of the most popular options for guests. Privatizing a resort allows for a “complete rebranding of spaces, dinners, and evening events”. Marc Lauret mentions a bank that organized an event at Club Med in Peisey-Vallandry, in the mountains, at the end of winter. “It snowed 50 cm, and they were delighted, skiing all Saturday, and in the evenings, they enjoyed parties in parts of the resort that weren't intended for that purpose. We set up a winter market on the arrival square, an evening in the speciality restaurant, which was deconstructed and then rebuilt for the occasion, and then the next day, 650 people enjoyed an evening in the lobby,” he recounts.
A premium and exclusive range
The restaurant offer is also adapted to the requirements of MICE guests. While the entire Club Med range is now geared towards the premium segment, an Exclusive Collection offer includes dedicated concierge services and top-of-the-range suites. Exclusive Collection resorts in the Seychelles, Val d'Isère, Mauritius, Sicily… offer a five-star experience. All of them now pay particular attention to the dining experience, from buffet show cooking to increasingly sophisticated à la carte cuisine. Catering also makes a difference when it comes to choosing a MICE venue.
By diversifying its offerings and adapting to the specific needs of companies, Club Med continues to offer memorable experiences for corporate events.
